Paraiso Miami Beach to Launch Digital-Only Swim Week in Light of Coronavirus

0

Digital-Only Swim Week Coming in July

This season, Paraiso’s Digital Platform will focus on consumer-first and brand sustainability efforts during this time of crisis with featured fashion presentations, exclusive designer interviews, and immersive brand experiences.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, PARAISO Miami Beach will launch e-PARAISO, a digital networking platform for the industry that will feature fantasy resort wear experiences, fashion presentations, and exclusive behind the scenes footage from participating designers and brands transforming the perception of what the fashion week experience is.

“While we and the fashion industry at-large continue to find our footing and adapt to the new-normal of social distancing, we’ve had time to reflect and innovate,” said Natalija Dedic Stojanovic, Creative Director of PARAISO Miami Beach. “The resulting online experience will offer a new creative output, for both the swim week consumer and resort wear brands to directly engage with one another, creating an online community that speaks to PARAISO’s core values; innovation, originality, and discovery.”

The e-PARAISO platform will launch on July 9, 2020 with a curated four-day program, intended to reestablish the commercial fashion industry machine going again:

  • Virtual Space Fashion Presentations and Runway Live Streaming with leading swimwear and resort wear brands presenting themselves in original and innovative ways.
  • Designer (BTS) Interviews, Collection First Look, and Experiential Events We are seeing an opportunity to rethink experiential beyond mass gatherings, recalibrate and remind the audience that experience is about the emotion, not a channel.
  • Up-Cycle/Sustainable Fashion Initiative PARAISO UpCycle Challenge will continue to live as a digital version of the mentorship program bringing into focus what matters the most, sustainability and ethical practices in the fashion industry.

“While we are optimistic that COVID-19 will be better understood by summer, it’s difficult to predict when it will subside,” added Stojanovic. “Until then, social distancing is critical for the health and safety of everyone, in turn, making our online platform absolutely necessary”.

ABOUT e-PARAISO

With the fashion industry moving in an unconventional direction, new digital tools will reform the way brands present themselves to media, buyers, and consumers. From July 9 — 12, Funkshion will present e-PARAISO, the 360 online marketing platform focused on digital strategies to promote upcoming collections for the Resort and Swimwear industry. e-PARAISO will revitalize the landscape of fashion and challenge the traditional standard of industry networking, the runways and presentations.

OUR STORY

In July 2018, PARAISO opened its doors in Miami Beach to unveil a brand new breed of experiential festival that creatively united the world’s favorite fashion, wellness, beauty and lifestyle brands. A multi-day fashion platform centralized in Collins Park and stretching to all surrounding areas of South Beach champions the core values of innovation, originality, and discovery through must-see events, imaginative activations, exclusive launches, runway presentations, and collaborations in design, music, wellness, art, and social media.

With over 40 events in four days, PARAISO 2019 brought a uniquely elevated and unified event showcase to the globally recognized Miami scene. Content from the festival quickly went viral, with event imagery capturing the world’s attention. Runway shows with top designers and style-setting supermodels and celebrities, educational panels with respected business leaders, cutting-edge fitness and wellness programming, and surprise music performances with headlining talent and pop-up conceptual retail experiences — PARAISO has something to engage everyone.

Anne Barge Bridal Atelier Introduces Virtual Bridal Appointments

0

Virtual Bridal Appointments

Just when you thought planning your wedding couldn’t get any more difficult – a global pandemic is thrown into the mix. Suddenly our advertised exclusive bridal appointment “experience” at Anne Barge became obsolete due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we were faced with the question, what now?

In an effort to stay connected with our brides in a time when many of us are unable to leave our homes, the Anne Barge Bridal Atelier is pleased to introduce Virtual Bridal Appointments. When a bride schedules a virtual appointment, she is able to see our collections and have any questions answered by the Anne Barge team. The key to the virtual appointment is not to make a purchase, but to establish a relationship with the customer.

Here’s how it works:

Get Connected – First, head over to www.annebarge.com and create a wish list of all of the gowns you are interested in. Then, schedule your virtual appointment by emailing Erin Krut, the Anne Barge Bridal Atelier stylist at erin@annebarge.com. Virtual appointments are done via Facetime or Zoom.

During Your Virtual Appointment – Erin will begin each virtual appointment by learning about your wedding plans and discussing every detail, from the venue and time of year to the general aesthetic you prefer. Erin will go through your bridal style and your desired wedding day looks, explaining each dress on your wish list based on fit, shape and fabric. She will also discuss possible customization options or special sizing needed.

Narrowing Down Your Options – You will then narrow down your gown choices to your top looks. The Anne Barge team would be happy to send fabric swatches for up to three gowns, which will be mailed directly to your home. This will help you visualize the gowns by actually seeing fabrics and colors.

Set A Date – Finally, you will set up an appointment to try on your selected gowns once the atelier has reopened.

Who Will Benefit? – Brides looking for a gown who have a Summer or Fall 2020 wedding will be prioritized for virtual appointments. Brides who have postponed their big day and are now considering a smaller ceremony and a second gown will also benefit from these appointments.

Added Bonus! – Anne Barge will be waiving all rush fees on new orders for Summer and Fall 2020 wedding gown purchases.

We have made it our number one goal at Anne Barge to continue to provide our brides with a personalized experience to make their wedding dreams into a beautiful reality, even during these unprecedented times. We know how devastating this time can be for brides around the world but remember, your love never dies. You will still have your dream wedding and we want to help you feel supported throughout the entire process!

Conversations in Fashion with Girl Child Soldiers

0

Kinshasa in August, Conversations in Fashion with Girl Child Soldiers

Former Child soldiers in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo who have been set free from the militia and returned home are eagerly awaiting a 4-day workshop being organized in August to give them a 360-degree view of the fashion industry worldwide.

“About 250 million youth are at-risk of being recruited as child soldiers,” says Alveena Bakhshi, School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University New York, “and the threat of further marginalization is very real in the face of COVID 19. Historically almost half the child soldiers are girls. The UN Secretary General has gone on record to say that girls and women are more likely to be disadvantaged than men. And victimized, in the aftermath of COVID 19.”

This project could not have come at a better time. Simon Kangeta, Executive Director Ajedi-KA, Kinshasa, expedited the approvals and Daniel Kasindi, CEO of Académie de la mode et du design, Luxembourg, native son of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is excited to share his vision in sustainability and circular economy producing flax, yarn and fabric production, and training of dressmakers.

Ajedi-Ka defends and protects the harmonious development of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo, committed to reintegrating children affected by armed conflict while taking action to protect the environment with the help of children.

Académie de la mode et du design announces the second annual fashion week in the Design City of Luxembourg from October 3-10.

Wedding Wine Wednesday at Anne Barge

Wedding Wine Wednesday at Anne Barge

Represented by ODA PR.

In an effort to support our local bridal boutiques and salons around the country, Anne Barge is pleased to announce the official launch of Wedding Wine Wednesday at Anne Barge, which will premier this evening, Wednesday, April 1 at 5pm EST.

Each Wednesday, the Anne Barge team will meet virtually with its retailers via Zoom. The hour will cover different topics to address a variety of questions and concerns that the industry is facing during the COVID-19 outbreak. Shawne Jacobs, president and creative director of Anne Barge, will host the virtual hangout, with a glass of wine or mocktail in hand, to discuss the first topic: Partnering For A Better Tomorrow, How Can Anne Barge Help You?

The Anne Barge team has been working very hard over the last few weeks to ensure that we are prepared for the immense challenges and can stand by our customers in the face of uncertainty. The brand is committed to providing its retailers and brides-to-be with the most up-to-date information on everything from safety protocols, store hours and reopening’s to appointments, orders and alterations.

At this time, the power of community is more important than ever. In response to the crisis, we are extremely proud to start this industry initiative and come together in times of difficulty. By working together and staying connected through our shared passion for bridal and fashion, we can come out on the other side of this stronger than ever before. We want each and every one of our partners to feel supported along the way as we battle through this unprecedented time.

Partnering For A Better Tomorrow, How Can Anne Barge Help You?

In tribute to those affected by the public health crisis, Anne Barge is pleased to announce the following initiatives which will support the healthcare community and brides-to-be across the country.

Anne Barge is partnering with its bridal salons to help provide a better tomorrow. To show gratitude to all of the health heroes who have dedicated themselves to helping our communities in need, Anne Barge will be launching the Health Hero Program. This program will offer a 20% discount on all wedding gowns for healthcare workers. All healthcare workers who purchase an Anne Barge gown from any of the 38 participating retailers will be eligible for the discount. This initiative will extend through December 2021 in support of all brides-to-be that have put their life on the line to help fight the spread of COVID-19. Healthcare workers only need to provide their medical I.D. badge or credentials to receive the discount.

Top participating retailers include:

  • Kleinfeld Bridal, New York NY
  • Kinsley James Bridal, Los Angeles CA
  • Kinsley James Bridal, Walnut Creek CA
  • I Do Bridal Couture, Covington LA
  • I Do Bridal Couture, Baton Rouge LA
  • Nyanza Bridal, Kirkland WA

As events are being cancelled and postponed across the globe, we expect there to be an influx of weddings taking place as soon as government safety restrictions are lifted. Many brides have been concerned about the availability of our seamstresses and having alterations completed before their wedding date. To help alleviate the stress of incurring any additional costs that may not have previously been budgeted for, Anne Barge will be waiving all rush fees for Summer and Fall 2020 wedding dress purchases.

The Anne Barge Bridal Atelier in Atlanta will also be offering incentives for brides who are supporting the brand locally. Those who purchase an Anne Barge gift card for $800 will receive a voucher valued at $1,000. This voucher may be used towards the purchase of a gown or accessories from the atelier. The voucher must be used in full.

As a luxury bridal and evening wear design house, Anne Barge always aims to inspire women and give back to the community. As the world continues to battle this pandemic head on, we want to provide a little bit of ease to those who are fighting on the frontline and have been affected during this unprecedented time. We are doing our part to support the industry even if it means our company will take a hit. This will definitely be a trying few months, but our hope is that we can all weather this crisis together with our personal and business health intact.

MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK RUSSIA IS TAKING PLACE ONLINE THIS WEEKEND

The Russian Fashion Council with support of Fashion Fund has announced the dates of the virtual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. On April 4 and 5, both emerging and established designers will present their new collections. For the first time ever, the event will be totally digital

This solution was developed to support designers and fashion houses in a time of pandemic. For two days, Moscow and Russian brands will deliver their video presentations, custom made for MBFW Russia, at the online platform AIZEL.RU and MEGOGO, the major media service. Some pieces from the new collections will be offered for sale in the nearest future.

“We encourage you to support Russian designers not only with our traditional #MBFWRussia tag, but to use #stayhome and #stayhomeinfashion tags, too. Visit designers’ presentations from home, get ready, choose a look for a show or a street/home style one, post your picture, share and like it – all of these will support our talents under the current circumstances,” suggests Alexander Shumsky, President of Russian Fashion Council.

Initially, the intention was to livestream presentations and private shows that designers would prepare instead of their shows at Manege. However, following the new restrictions applied in Moscow and in order to prevent virus spreading, the organizers had to renounce the idea of livestreams from showrooms and private venues.

“Arranging one livestream takes at least 10 to 15 people, including modcatwalkels, makeup artists, camera operators, etc. The best thing that the fashion industry can say to the world today is #stayhome, stay home and be responsible. Our whole online event was prepared remotely,” said Alexander Shumsky.

The Fashion Week will take place as a set of new collections’ video presentations. Some of the collections will be presented as lookbooks. The Fashion Week (#MBFWRussia) website and media partners will be adding fresh content dedicated to the new collections throughout April.

At the virtual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, new collections will be presented by IGOR GULYAEV, RUBAN, RED SEPTEMBER, /SELFÉTUDE, JULIA DALAKIAN, ELENA SOUPROUN, N.LEGENDA, BO.G.A.CHI. Borzova Gala | Alena Chipura, MADFRENZY, WHITE CROW, AMPLITUDA, SL1P, ÓNOMA:, ASOMATAV, Yana Besfamilnaya, SERAYA, velinask, LUTANI, VAKPROJECT, T3CM, OLYA KOSTERINA, ophelica, HOUSE OF LEO, MIETSA, Valeria SAAD, LATARDE, LEATHER LIKE WOOD, VILENA TIMOSHENKO and others.

For the first time in Russia, it will be possible to preorder pieces from new collections presented by Russian designers at the virtual “catwalk” arranged at AIZEL.RU, the leading Russian online store of designer clothing.

A popular virtual model Aliona Pole will give coverage to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia shows and share her favorite looks with the audience. Aliona has also created her personal capsule collection of digital clothes and is going to wear it for the first time at the Fashion Week. Clothes for Aliona have been made by means of computer graphics and neuronets.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia has cooperated with #Moskvastoboy (Moscow is with You) project, which is particularly relevant today, while everybody stays home. Every day, the project is updated with more and more online events featuring various venues. Video presentations of Russian designers’ new collections united under a single schedule will be posted at the project’s website stayhome.moscow.

Russian designers will be supported by 100+ Russian media including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, WMJ, Izvestia, Kommersant, Vedomosti, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Moscow 24, and many more, along with some international media. It will be possible to follow online presentations of designers’ new collections from anywhere in the world.

Claudia Li Fall Winter 2020 Collection

Download the Lookbook

Claudia Li’s Fall Winter 2020 Ready-to-Wear Collection is dedicated to her grandfather who passed away last March. The collection is a celebration of his life and the moments she shared with him. Li revisits signature themes and enlists new ones to capture the truest essence of her, and her brand’s identity. Updated brand staple silhouettes include the Slouchy Shirt, the Windy Skirt and the Big Bow Jumpsuit, all interpreted into various new fabrics like leather and quilted padding. New elements this season included the Erhu print, the Goldfish print and hand embroidery and plaids.

The Erhu print present throughout the collection was created with her family’s artistic and musical genes in mind. Her grandfather was a painter and played 8 different kinds of instruments, the Erhu being the instrument he played most often. The Erhu print comes in two colors, Samba Red and Bluejay. Memories of shopping at street markets in China with her grandfather inspired The Goldfish print and hand embroidery. Plaids are interpreted in classic suiting fabric throughout the collection in Maui Blue and Impala Yellow, Pink Flambe plaids on translucent vinyl, as well as hand cross stitched patterns on oversized mesh bags.

Accessories include handed beaded TEVA sandals, hand crocheted beanies with oversized pom poms, hand beaded earrings with fabric flowers. Footwear was provided by TEVA.
