How Fashion Week Scheduling Works
The Big Four fashion weeks run twice a year in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. The February/March circuit showcases Fall/Winter collections; September/October presents Spring/Summer. Dedicated men’s fashion weeks run in January and June (Milan and Paris only — the British Fashion Council discontinued its standalone June edition, with London’s February and September shows now co-ed). Haute couture shows in Paris are held in January and July. Bridal and swimwear events have their own separate seasons.
Shows run approximately six months ahead of retail seasons so that buyers can place orders, manufacturers can produce collections, and media can prepare editorial content. The schedule follows a set sequence — New York opens, then London, Milan, and Paris — coordinated by each city’s fashion council: the CFDA (New York), the British Fashion Council (London), Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (Milan), and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (Paris).
