VDM the Label

Fashion Palette Miami Swim Week opened with a 90s inspired collection by VDM the Label complete with “Ice, Ice, Baby” beats in the background. Designer, Allanah Vandermey added that her inspiration since she began has been “a modern interpretation of the decades from history to what it is today with newest collection representing the 90s”.

All of VDM the Label’s materials are ecosustainable and made from recycled materials. It is the designer’s mission to make a difference with her line and protect the oceans that we all love. Bright reds, blues, and blacks rocked the runway with Fila sneakers and scrunchies. Quality materials make women feel great and last a lifetime.

VDM launched just over 6 months ago and in this short time has captivated the hearts and loyalty of its VDM BABES across the Globe including celebrities, stylists, and media.

Aqua Blu

Aqua Blu has been an Australian Swimwear icon for over a decade. To close the Fashion Palette show, their Spring/Summer 2019 collection, “Euphoria”, was created to give women the euphoric feeling one gets when traveling the globe. With an apparent island inspiration, these pieces by Aqua Blu came packed with a lush color palette and animal prints like zebra and peacock.

Each of Aqua Blu’s runway looks could be seen on the beaches of Fiji, at the poolside, on the yacht and would go seamlessly from beach to bar while exuding glamor. The line is made to stand out. Every piece was constructed beautifully from the highest quality, luxe Italian swimwear fabrics.

Style, modernity and a strong sense of femininity have been the key elements of Aqua Blu since its inception. Aqua Blu has grown and evolved under the keen eye of already-established designers to produce fresh and vibrant swimwear. Women of every shape and color are encouraged to feel empowered and confident while wearing Aqua Blu.

Notable attendees included actor Broderick Hunter, Barbie Blank of WAGS, singer Garmandy Candelario of MIX 5, Charlotte McKinney, and Brazilian actress Gabriela Dias.

TJ Swim

TJ Swim is an Australian designer swimwear label brought to you by Tara Sargeant, a fashion and business student who is constantly chasing summer. For Spring/Summer 2019, TJ Swim was inspired by the female body. The pieces that strutted the runway were edgy, yet sophisticated. The label’s cutting-edge designs are bold yet timeless, featuring cheeky Brazilian coverage and 80’s inspired high cut legs that complement the curves of the body in all the right places. This collection entitled “Miami Heat” featured deep necklines and earthy fabrics in tones such as clay, ash, deep wine, and lavender.

TJ Swim is one of Australia’s leading swimwear labels with an extraordinary global following and strong online presence. The label has successfully captured the hearts of numerous social media influencers and celebrities such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, Natalie Halcro, Olivia Pierson and Tammy Hembrow.

Lil & Emm

Lil & Emm’s “Moroccan Moment” collection was inspired by the spice markets, the desert, pops of color, and textured materials. Designers Sheree Lily Giles and Emma Knieriem added a unique twist to their pieces with ruffles, tassels, and glitter.

Lil & Emm brings luxury, quality pieces to the market that are unapologetically feminine and designed for modern women who are leaders in fashion and style. According to Giles, “Australians do swimwear best; it’s our lifestyle”. The Spring/Summer 2019 collection of pale pinks, blacks, and whites is meant to bring something unique to the industry that makes every customer feel sexy just by putting on the suit.

Monday Swimwear Miami Swim Week FW18

Represented by Bollare.

On Friday, July 13th, Monday Swimwear made its runway debut at Miami Swim Week 2018.

The highly sought-after brand adopted the ‘shoppable runway’ model, presenting pieces from their Summer Moments, Signature, Ribbed, and Beachwear collections, all of which are currently available to purchase at Monday Swimwear.com.

Showcasing a neutral color palette of timeless black, ivory, and nude tones, alongside pops of sky blue, coral red, espresso, mustard yellow, and leopard print, Monday Swimwear highlighted colorways chosen specifically to flatter every skin tone. Silhouettes ranged from classic triangle and bandeau tops, to bra tops with molded cups and fully adjustable straps, all created to be both sexy and supportive. Bikini bottoms included high waists and mid-rise styles, seamless staples and side ties, with full, moderate, and Brazilian coverage options. One-piece styles included high legs and low back cuts, as well as strapless necklines with removable arm ties for added versatility.

Additionally, the show featured ready-to-wear pieces from Monday Swimwear’s Beachwear collection. Matching tie-tops and wide legs pants were accompanied by luxurious linen tunics, chic sarongs, and flowing coverups.

Co-founded by ‘swimwear connoisseurs’ Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman, the brand is recognized not only for their remarkable social media presence, but most importantly, for their iconic feminine designs, immaculate fit, and enduring quality. Having worn countless swimsuits over the years, Natasha and Devin know exactly what will compliment and flatter the female form. Rather than creating size-specific, temporary trends, Monday Swimwear has designed a range of essential swimwear that will provide the comfort and confidence needed for countless summers.

As strong advocates for body positivity, Monday Swimwear also presented their new V Range suits (recently launched on June 18th) – a continuation of existing customer favorites now available in V-VVV (voluptuous), or sizes 12-16. Striving to design feminine pieces that compliment every body shape, this reformation was introduced to create a more diverse selection of sizing to ensure women aren’t settling for a suit that ‘fits’ over a suit that fits perfectly.

MONDAY SWIMWEAR MUSES: Monday Swimwear Muses and faces of the brand McKenna Berkley, Nonny Mulholland, and Tess Jantschek walked the show as a highlight.

Black Models Say They Were Turned Away From a Miami Swim Week Casting

0

Viral Video Claims Discrimination

Model Joia Talbott believes race was the reason she and other black models were dismissed from a casting call during July’s Miami Swim Week, reports Racked.com today.

You can see the title image of these ladies @joiajohn.

Fashion Week Online, which runs MiamiSwimWeek.net (currently a portal leading to our Miami Swim Week information pages), the Instagram @miamiswimweekend, and which hosts a free Miami Swim Week schedule, is working with other press outlets to determine where exactly the event in question took place.

Fashion Week Online‘s publisher Pablo Starr (@Pablo.Starr) released this statement today:

“Underrepresentation or misrepresentation of various ethnic groups is a serious issue, both in fashion and in our society at large. (I myself cringe at how many movies or TV series still only feature people with Hispanic names as maids, gang members, or day laborers. My father is a professor of economics, but I rarely see an Hispanic typecast as a nerdy professor, haha.)

“Miami Swim Week encompasses around 100 shows, created by roughly seven production companies, most of them great people. So whoever acted in this way will be found. Unfortunately, it won’t solve the larger problem of the marginalization of ethic groups in our society in general, which I know firsthand is a painful experience.

Fashion Week Online, as a news portal dedicated to helping inform and help the Miami Swim Week market with news coverage (just as we do the other fashion hubs) will continue to report on this as we find out more.”
