Parisa Wang Brings Confidence, Unique Style to Luxury Handbags

0

Beauty and the Best

There is beauty in confidence. Designer Parisa Wang lets that beauty shine with her signature handbags tailored for women on the go.

Parisa Wang and her eponymous brand is most known for her Addicted Bracelet Bag, a minimalist cross body handbag with a ring buckle worn around the wrist– a bag elevated to a jewelry aesthetic. The hands-free design is meant for carefree whimsy for a multitasking boss. “The functionality and versatility are definitely why customers love it so much,” Wang explained. “It’s definitely a unique piece made for every woman to appreciate.”

The idea of an empowered woman carrying one of her designs is the driving force for Wang. Originally a Business Accounting major at Miami University, Wang felt confined to cultural expectations. “I grew up in urban China where arts were seen as a waste of time,” Wang admitted. Wang secretly took painting classes while in college, and upon graduation, decided to follow her true passion for fashion design at Parsons School for Design. “[Parsons] is where I learned to harness my allusive aspirations into tangible objects,” Wang mused.

Wang worked with ready-to-wear brands like J.Crew, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Pologeorgis Furs, but again felt confined to a particular pre-determined aesthetic. “I soon found myself disappointed and stranded,” Wang reminisced. “Brands seemed to be less interested in innovating and more interesting in hitting rigid sales goals and replicating established trends. I wanted to do things differently.”

Wang launched PARISA WANG in 2016 with the mission to “create singular, luxurious handbags with accessible price points that women instinctively reach for.” Wang was drawn to handbags as her medium due to their historical significance. Wang cited the fact that clothing lacked pockets until the 17th century, with women having to rely on men to carry their belongings. “Women’s handbags appeared asa symbol of independence and status for women,” Wang explained. “I love the story behind handbags.”

Wangs bags are very much so for the modern woman while carrying this tradition of independence and empowerment. PARISA WANG created the #PWWonderWomen campaign to create a social media community to celebrate inspirational women who follow their own paths to success. “We believe in championing women, and hope that our designs can help instill in them the strength and confidence needed to succeed each and every day,” Wang said.

The Addicted Bracelet Bag, PARISA WANG’s first style.

Wang’s designs are also uniquely personal. The iconic full-grain calf leather and suede-lined Addicted Bracelet Bag was PARISA WANG’s first product, inspired by Wang’s own love story. The bag’s placement on the wrist parallels the phrase “wear your heart on your sleeve”; the shape of the bag resembles a wine bottle, symbolizing the feeling of being drunk in love. “It’s meant to capture the honeymoon stage,” Wang explained.

For her vaster collections, Wang looks to classic artists for specific elements: Brancusi’s sculptures for gentle curves, Tadao Ando’s architectures for clean lines, and van Gogh’s “passionate” color palettes. The brand itself also encourages a dialogue between the customers and manufacturers, prompting feedback for new materials or testing sustainable approaches.

PARISA WANG’s latest creation– the Belt Bag– came to fruition due to such customer feedback. Professional model and photographer, and Addicted Bracelet Bag customer, Zanita Whittington reached out to Wang to work on a design collaboration for a day-to-night bag. “Zanita is jet setting around the world, and she told me she couldn’t find a chic accessory that allows her to be hands-free and to effortlessly transition between on and off-duty looks,” Wang summarized. The Parisa x Zanita Belt Bag was their combined solution for a compact approach to luxury. The Belt Bag recently debuted on August 15th, exclusively on parisawang.com.

The Parisa x Zanita Belt Bag, launched August 15.

All of PARISA WANG products are handmade by artisans in Hong Kong using natural biodegradable calfskin sourced from renowned international tanneries to merge a delicacy with industrial. “I hope that my classic minimal designs help instill in you an indomitable confidence laced with a feminine edge,” Wang explained.

Wang looks to expand the brand into ready-to-wear and shoes, among other projects. But just like any Business major, Wang knows not to spread herself too thin. “We hope to continue to build the brand slowly and steadily. Regardless of what we do, our mission will remain the same,” Wang said. “I wanted to build a brand that we not only create beautiful fashion, but also celebrate the things that are important to us and women we admire.”

On a personal level, Wang hopes to also expand her family. “I hope to meet a special someone to eventually build a family together,” Wang admitted. And, like her powerful Addicted Bracelet Bag, Wang is all about romance. “Love and work, work and love. That’s all there is, isn’t it?”

PARISA WANG handbags are available at parisawang.com.

Peach & Lily Drops Another Round of Killer Products

Peach & Lily Drops Another Round of Killer Products

Represented by Autumn PR.

Shortly after Alicia Yoon blew everyone’s mind with the release of Peach & Lily first in-house products last month she has done it again.

The brand’s eponymous line has been highly anticipated, the exfoliating mask sold out within minutes. This week they announced that they were launching 4 new products on their site and ultra.com. After I fell in love with the first four products (especially the Glass Skin Refining Serum) I jumped out of my seat in excitement for even more Korean Beauty products from Peach & Lily to add to my already lengthy skincare routine.

Peach & Lily

[portfolio_slideshow id=62918 align=center width=699 click=advance thumbnailsize=40 showcaps=false]

The Good Acids Pore Toner ($39)

The thing with toners is that they literally are taking away dead skin cells, which can be irritating if you overuse these products. Peach & Lily’s Good Acids Toner has taken 2 years to formulate. Let me repeat that, it took 2 years to perfect this toner!! Using less than 1% AHA and Glycolic Acid is all you needed to produce radiant results without being to harsh for everyday use. The formula also includes Cape Lilac, Eggplant and Aloe to sooth and replenish the skin.

Wild Dew Treatment Essence ($39)

One of my favorite Korean Skincare products is a good essence. This essence is packed full of hydration that skins deep into the skin and also helps prevent breakouts. During fashion week I am going to be using this as my saving grace! The fast acting formula is very well balanced with natural extracts like bamboo, a key ingredient in most Korean skincare that is just packed full of antioxidants. The Lotus extract in the formula also helps fight free radical damage. There are also no filler ingredients which we are really happy about.

KBeauty Rescue Balm ($28)

We have been seeing salves like this pop up a lot more in the market, for a very good reason. When certain dry areas of your body need extreme hydration, like your elbows, heels and lips this salve will provide instant relief. Important to note that this has no mineral oil or petroleum but instead uses Tumeric Root Extract and Centella Asiatica Extract to rejuvenate the skin. Keep this balm in your bag or desk for a quick fix go-to.

Lazy Day All-In-One Moisture Pads ($39)

There are days when I get home late and seriously have no energy to go through my daily 10+ step skincare routine. When this moisture pad appeared on my desk it was the answer to my prayers! I use it after a cleanser to moisturize my face and feel ok to skip a serum afterwards. Spinach, Broccoli, Carrot and Pomegranate Extracts give your skin the antioxidants it needs while delivering skin-clearing and glow inducing results.

Street Fashion Week Fall 2019: New York Fashion Week

Street Fashion Week NYFW FW19

Street Fashion Week is a platform created to offer emerging high-end luxury streetwear designers a voice during New York and Los Angeles fashion week.

On Saturday, September 15th, 2018, two navy veterans by the Instragram handle, @significantproblems will be presenting their military-inspired, futurist collection at Street Fashion Week during New York Fashion Week. These emerging street style designers have created military-inspired looks featuring vest-like bodices, belt-like straps that wrap around the body, see-through masks, and loose fitted trousers.

Street Fashion Week: NYFW FW19

[portfolio_slideshow id=62929 align=center width=699 click=advance thumbnailsize=40 showcaps=false]

As part of NYFW, Street Fashion Week offers emerging artists and designers the opportunity to further permeate the fashion industry ecosystem. Curated streetwear pieces from emerging designers such as @significant problems are ones to watch and further speaks to the direction that street style is headed. The innovative looks from emerging street style designers elevates this year’s Street Fashion Week’s theme of “Forward to the Future,” as streetwear continues to make its presence known in the fashion world.

Streetwear isn’t a new phenomenon. As a byproduct of wider subcultural movements from the California skate culture of the late 20th century, to the expressive movement voiced by a host of African-American artists from cities like New York, street style has been evolving since the 1970s.

Notable designers such as Virgil Aboh, now artistic director to one of the most revered fashion houses – Louis Vuitton menswear, has been pivotal in shaping how we approach street style. Through these designers perspectives, we become exposed to street style as a forward thinking movement. Street style has the power to merge a niche culture of unique emerging artists and designers with longstanding, established fashion houses to express ideas where voids can be filled and designers can push boundaries.

Anuja Tolia Jewelry

Anuja Tolia of Anuja Tolia Jewelry @(anujatoliajewelry) says: “I’ve been passionate in all realms of fashion ever since I can remember. It is that passion that took me to The Parsons School of Design in New York City, where I graduated with a distinction in Fashion Design.

“After graduating and working for several major designers such as a Wifebeader and Liz Claiborne Inc., I was looking to take my creativity to the next level, so I enrolled in the Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy. There, I studied and honed my skills in a variety of areas within fashion, but nothing excited me more than creating the perfect piece of jewelry to complete a look. After discovering that designing jewelry is what I was destined to do, I transformed my ideas into reality, and, thus, the Anuja Tolia Line was born!

“After returning to Manhattan from Italy, I got right to work putting the finishing touches on the first few collections and officially launched the Anuja Tolia Line in June 2010! The Line is composed of pieces created from exotic gems, edgy metals, and vibrantly colored semi-precious stones. The elegant earrings, rings, necklaces, bangles, and cuffs are processed globally. Each piece fuses my love of Indian artisanship with Western flare. I give every detail specific attention to ensure that each piece is flawless and makes you feel like a new woman the minute you put it on.”

If you’re looking for unique, handcrafted, fashion-forward, and trendsetting jewelry, this is the perfect line for you.

Lærke Andersen FW19

Represented by Spalt PR.

LÆRKE ANDERSEN SS19 collection points to a lavish, rebellious garden party in the Danish countryside, a boundary breaking celebration with a hedonistic edge.

Shapes, volumes and materials are reduced but over the top, simple yet detailed, constructed but carelessly free.

Nicholas K NYFW FW19

Represented by EB Consults Worldwide.

Nicholas K has finally opened their very first brick and mortar location in Soho, New York.

Last week the brand celebrated the opening of the two month pop up with a launch party that perfectly portrayed the brand. The location’s white washed floors, black industrial ceilings and neutral color palette is rounded out with the drapey white parachutes and tons and tons of foliage. The utilitarian pieces fit in perfectly with the ethereal store vibes.

The store features the FW18 “Holy Mountain Peru” collection with their coveted alpaca sweaters, multi-use vegetable-dyed leather jackets and convertible silk dresses. The SS18 collection is still available in the stores as well, because we all know that in this unpredictable hot NYC weather has us still wanting to by flowey white summer pieces.

This mythical winged creature was created by the Olympic God of the Sea, Poseidon, acting as an ideal muse for a swimwear collection. ‘Mery Playa is a fun and fresh collection for adults,’ said the 26-year-old model. ‘It is not your basic swimsuit, it’s a piece that will make you smile.’

STYLE360 veteran, Michael Kuluva, returns to show his latest Tumbler and Tipsy line with special guest Mirai Nagasu, a U.S. figure skating national champion, 2018 Olympic Bronze Medalist, Dancing with the Stars alumni and Teen Choice Award nominee.
