A’kai NYFW. CFDA Runway360. The Breakwater Collection 2021
A‘KAI Littlejohn LLC. Women’s Luxury Wear released his Spring / Summer 2021 Collection on Wednesday Sept 16th at 7:45pm.
The young Creative Director will produce and direct a “short fashion film“ with his Spring Summer 2021 Collection of course being the “star” of the production. The short film and collection of multi-media content will be available to be streamed at www.akailittlejohn.com and across the young designer’s social media platforms.
A’kai
A’KAI’ introduced his critically acclaimed and award wining Spring / Summer 2020 collection last year during NYFW. He was honored with the Cinemoi’ Film Fashion Awards Emerging Designer of the Year. Daphna Ziman, President of Cinémoi said “A’kai is our hope for the future. In him we see the essence of elegance that is timeless and enticing. Out of hundreds of amazing designers we chose A’kai because of his great talent, but also because of his kindness and grace with which A’kai welcomes fashion lovers into a magnificent world of art and design.”
COVID-19 has affected the young fashion star’s breakout year. The pandemic has crippled the production and manufacturing of garments on an international level. A’kai started making hand made mask. He is now a featured designer on www.thefacesoffashion.com Designer Mask Platform. When we asked A’kai, what is different about this year’s collection? He said, “I am bringing more color into this year’s collection. -I also will be introducing sleeves into the collection.“
THE STORY OF A’KAI
As a toddler A’kai displayed a confident love for design and women’s fashion. His interest was ever prevalent on a daily basis. A’kai had wonder and excitement in his eyes when he would touch materials and sketch his illustrations. His passion and drive was undeniably noticed by all that crossed his path. With his sketch book in hand, he was ready to ignite the world with his exuberant energy and his vision for his future. A’kai was determined to bring his designs to life. He had naturally displayed trained techniques like the art of draping. He began to teach himself many different skills. A’kai interned at the age of 9 for a Fashion House and was mentored by the owner.
He learned technical aspects of Fashion Design. A’kai caught the eye of the critically acclaimed Project Runway with his hard work and dedication. He landed a spot on Project Runway Jr. season 2. The youngest contestant in history at the age of 13. After filming he privately showed his first collection, Spring / Summer 2017. A’kai has since launched 3 collections and has showcased in New York Fashion Week. You can catch the starry-eyed fashion designer in the moment of his finale look walking the runway. You will then see his vision is not a vision but a love story.
A’kai had his first solo show September 2019 for his highly anticipated Spring / Summer 2020 Collection for which he received the 2019 CFFA Emerging Designer Award.”
