The hottest fashion designers joined forces with the hottest ticket on Broadway for one night for a spectacular celebration of fashion, music and theater.
The Blonds were inspired by the love story and stage adaptation of Moulin Rouge for their Spring 2020 collection. The lucky audience was treated to several musical numbers from the musical including the iconic “Lady Marmalade,” which opened the show. Members of the Broadway cast led by Aaron Tveit performed, and were dressed by The Blonds.
The first glimpse of the SS20 collected was revealed as Phillipe (Blond) was flown in on Satine’s swing. The gorgeous outfit looked as if it were made completely out of diamonds, a la Satine’s first song, “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.”
The outrageously beautiful set by Derek McLane seemed to influence many of the looks as well. The show is clearly a love story, and the set includes many hearts, which made their way onto the fashion, especially well-executed in the leather jacket worn by Aaron Tveit. The bodysuit and headpiece Paris Hilton wore was reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, which was behind her. A dancer wore a unitard which was greatly complemented by the fleur de lis pattern on the curtain behind her.
Red and gold were prominent, as were sparkle and opulence; everything you want and expect from a show by The Blonds.
To call this a fashion show would not be doing it justice. This was a fashion event, complete with newly-minted fashion icon Billy Porter performing (along with his Pose castmate Jason A. Rodriguez).

The show also incorporated a bedazzled Ninebot KickScooter MAX into the show, as part of the collaboration between the fashion house and leaders in electric scooters and other self-balancing personal transportation devices.
The Ninebot KickScooter MAX powered by Segway scooter was completely glittering with custom bedazzled jewels matching the showgirl theme and the collection, made a brief yet impactful appearance as it zoomed down the runway, causing necks to strain to see the spectacle and had the audience applauding for more.
“This season the show is all about modern day show girls and Segway inspired us to create a showgirl on the go with a crystallized Ninebot KickScooter!,” said The Blonds.

The Ninebot KickScooter MAX powered by Segway collaboration was the perfect fit this season as scooters were also provided for pre-show prep allowing team members to quickly move around backstage prior to the show. The Blonds custom designed the Max and had it fabricated with Preciosa crystals in preparation for its Broadway and New York Fashion Week debut.
The Ninebot KickScooter was designed as a comfort riding scooter with long distance commuting capabilities, but its sleek and stylish design perfectly aligned with The Blonds runway show, where every detail from hair and makeup to elaborate headpieces oozed style and showed their penchant for always embracing the latest trends in technology, entertainment and pop culture.
