Mr. Saturday

The Spring/Summer 2025 collection by Mr. Saturday, under the creative direction of Joey Gollish, draws inspiration from the groundbreaking influence of Billy’s and Blitz on global club culture. Renowned for their impact on the New Romantics movement, these nightclubs fostered
an era of radical self-expression and avant-garde fashion. This collection translates that spirit into contemporary tailored pieces and patchwork graphics, expanding on the world of Mr. Saturday staple items while introducing innovative designs.

Highlights of the Collection:

  • Tailored Pieces: Continuing their expansion into tailoring, Mr. Saturday fuses ‘streetwear’ with the sartorial by crafting garments, like a classic trucker denim jacket, from a grey pinstriped wool. Structured garments that reflect the sophisticated yet rebellious nature of the club culture.
  • Patchwork Graphics: Dynamic and visually arresting, these designs pay tribute to the eclectic styles that defined the Blitz scene. Featuring ephemera and newspaper from the era, the fabric is used throughout tailored blazers, bombers, poplin shirts, and shorts.
  • Billy Glasses: Debuting this season, the “Billy” eyewear captures the essence of the era with a modern twist, destined to become a new icon in Mr. Saturday’s repertoire. Handcrafted from translucent Italian acetate, the frames come in “Burnt Orange” and “Dawn Blue”.

Presentation: The collection is displayed on mannequins and clothing racks, allowing guests to experience the craftsmanship and design firsthand. Attendees were invited to try on key pieces, immersing themselves in the aesthetic and cultural narrative of the collection. Additionally, an exclusive exhibit of printed fabrics was showcased, featuring newspaper prints that document the vibrant history of the Blitz nightclub and the New Romantics.

Exclusive Afterparty: Following the presentation, Mr. Saturday hosted an afterparty inside Andy Wahloo, promising an unforgettable night of music and celebration. Featuring DJ sets by Joey Gollish, Isaac Likes, Otto Milo, Jenno Christian and Reese Cooper. Adding to the excitement, Grammy-nominated artist Smino delivered a live musical performance, blending contemporary sounds with the nostalgic echoes of the past with his new track Polynesian.

Celebrating the legacy of club culture and its lasting influence on fashion. The Mr. Saturday
Spring/Summer 2025 collection is not just a tribute to history but a bold statement for the future.

The club kids, as they were called, shaped modern club culture in the UK and the world. Tucked away in the safe haven of a cave at 69 Dean St. Subverting Thatcherism, their parent’s war, and the world at large. This forgotten generation lives again.

Billy’s and Blitz were the birthplaces of the New Romantics, a movement characterized by its flamboyant fashion, eclectic music, and a fearless approach to identity and style. These nightclubs served as sanctuaries for those who dared to defy the norms, providing a space where individuality and creativity thrived. I aimed to capture the essence of that era while reinterpreting it for the modern world.

Our tailored pieces in this collection are a nod to the sophisticated yet rebellious nature of the club kids. These garments, from sharply cut blazers to fitted trousers and tailored coats, reflect a meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to craftsmanship, made in our atelier in Toronto. Each piece is designed to empower the wearer, evoking a sense of confidence, individuality, and most importantly, community.

Patchwork graphics play a significant role in this collection, inspired by the vibrant and eclectic styles that defined the Blitz scene. They’re not just decorative; they’re part of the roots of Mr. Saturday’s identity and tell a story, connecting the past with the present in a tapestry of visual narratives.

If there was only one thing I could have people take away from this collection it would be: Go out this Saturday night, put on something that tells people who you are and what you believe in, and talk to people; it’s more important than you think.” – Joey Gollish
