Internationally Renowned Cellist Josh Roman In Concert

The critically-acclaimed revolutionary concert experience, GatherNYC, today announced a dazzling lineup of artists for its upcoming Fall 2018 season, marking their second season as a New York City musical institution. Earlier this year, the progressive organization – which evokes the community and spiritual nourishment of a religious service (but the religion is music), launched its inaugural season, which featured an enviable roster of world-class musicians (Dover Quartet, New York Philharmonic principal clarinetist Anthony McGill, 2018 Grammy Nominee Sara Caswell), to sold-out audiences.

Founded by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd, GatherNYC has been steadily gaining notoriety for their diverse, inclusive, and multifaceted approach to the classical music concertgoing experience by providing a weekly Sunday morning musical reprieve from the uncertainty of our current times.

To complement its musical performances, GatherNYC’s one-hour weekly concerts also feature a unique spoken word performance by winners of the international Moth StorySLAM, which promotes the art of storytelling and honors the diversity and commonality of human experience; as well as a brief celebration of silence – a practice that informs community, togetherness, and empathy. Guests are also served artisanal coffee and pastries before the concert, for a nominal $20 per person.

Gather NYC Fall Season : New York FW19

Beginning Sunday, September 30th, GatherNYC’s Fall 2018 weekly “mindful musical mornings” – in residency at SubCulture at 45 Bleecker Street – will launch with a performance by the Attacca Quartet. Hailed by The Washington Post as a quartet that “epitomizes the string quartet ideal,” Attacca Quartet will present a morning concert of their signature repertoire, which deftly blends beloved classical string quartet works with electrifying new compositions.

The season continues in October with performances from artists including dynamic cellist and senior TED fellow Joshua Roman with pianist Conor Hanick, Russian Renaissance (2017 winners of the M-Prize, America’s most significant honor for chamber music), the virtuosic, genre-crossing super group Founders, and acclaimed classical guitarist and GatherNYC co-founder Rupert Boyd and Friends.

November sees performances from Magda Giannikou (the vibrant vocalist and accordionist performing music from around the world), harpist Bridget Kibbey, who has been hailed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as “The Yo-Yo Ma of the harp,” and notable woodwind quintet Imani Winds (“What triumph sounds like”- Philadelphia Inquirer).

The season draws to a close at the end of the year with performances from the internationally renowned violin virtuoso Rachel Barton Pine on December 2nd, followed by the final December 9th performance from one of the leading piano trios of its generation, Claremont Trio.

GatherNYC is also proud to partner with Airbnb, and is sponsored by Goodie Girl Cookies and Caffe Vita for the Fall 2018 season.
