To further enhance the visibility of the 24 Italian companies at the event, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) planned a series of promotional and communication initiatives: creation of an “Italian” pop-up and lounge area inside the fair, including an Instagram-friendly installation designed to generate engaging content and attract visitors, business meetings organized with U.S. retailers, collaboration with local influencers who will create and share stories, posts and videos, fashion photo shoot featuring photographer Juan Pablo Castro and stylist Lina Rodriguez with famous influencers.
The Italian government strategically promotes ‘Made in Italy’ – with the goal of expanding Italy’s share of international trade and enhancing the image of ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide – to support initiatives to attract foreign investment in Italy. The U.S. market is of strategic relevance for Italian fashion manufacturers (Apparel, Footwear, Leather Goods, Skins and Furs, Textiles and Yarns, Eyewear, Cosmetics and Jewelry), both in terms of size and driving capacity in consumer behavior patterns, compared to the rest of the world.
In 2024, with more than $16 million, Italy ranks tenth, the first European country, in the ranking of the main exporters for beachwear fashion to the United States. On the other hand, the United States is the fifth largest market for exports of Italian beachwear products, the first country outside Europe, after France, Croatia, Germany and Spain.
The United States, in terms of consumers of fashion products, represents the leading non-European Union market for “Made in Italy”. The Italian fashion industry remains a cornerstone of the national economy, generating approximately €96.4 billion in revenue and employing around 1.2 million people. Italy ranks second among the world’s largest exporters of textiles, fashion, and accessories, just after China. (Sources: U.S. Department of Commerce and Trading Economics, data from March to May 2025).
In 2024, the United States imported $2.194 billion worth of apparel from Italy, making it the only European country among the top ten apparel suppliers to the U.S. market, with a market share of 2.62%. The Italian fashion sector continues to play a vital role in both the national economy and international exports.
