Founded by Parsons alumni Haoran Li and Siying Qu, Private Policy is a genderless streetwear label that uses runway narratives to raise awareness of social and human rights issues. The 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists rework classic styles with an experimental edge, informed by the bustling energy of downtown New York. Using a newspaper outlet design process, the brand focuses on one social topic each season—from enslaved fishermen to humanity’s relationship with money to harmonious futures between nature and metropolitan life. Their aesthetic combines New York’s rebellious spirit with soft harnesses, workwear elements, and an unwavering commitment to dressing the young, free-spirited generation who “heart fashion and mind the world.”
