Chenpeng Fall/Winter 2019 Runway Show

Represented by Gia Kuan.

CHENGPENG presented its Fall/ Winter 2019 Collection at Pier 59 Studios in New York City. CHENPENG named this collection “HIMA LAYA” which, in Sanskrit, means “snowy land, the home of snow.” Prints and color blocking seen throughout the collection derive from the three different views of the natural mountains in the East Asian continent & South Asian subcontinent. Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world, have blessed us with the natural impact of polar colors. Through the hybrid use of textiles such as composite TPU, wool knit, faux fur, the collection invokes the visual evolution of the region’s flora and fauna, the spirit of the ”snowman” legend as well as the real-life nomads living by the mountains and the modern warriors who scale the peaks.

As the designer’s sixth release, the new collection features a technical upgrade as the designer hones his craft in producing outdoor attire. The reconstruction of polyester materials by the Textile Library to achieve physical indicators of different moisture permeability and water resistance, seamless materials and practical functionality now go hand in hand with the designer’s original concept of “ONE-SIZE” fashion.

“HIMA LAYA” is a treasure trove of legendary tales, and CHENPENG is also a collective of stories formed by our 15,000 customers who shop from over 70 stores around the globe. These are also stories of bravery, confidence, freedom and love. CHENPENG designs for its customers and we now have a community whose stories are being constantly being heard.

The Fall/Winter 2019 collection also includes a series of crossover products with Li Ning, China’s sportswear giant, for its e-commerce ‘Tracing(SU)’ series, centered around the theme of ‘Transformation of Sky Eyes’ from the book ‘Heavenly Creations’. Elements of the starry universe, combined with the design of the ancient Chinese philosophy of ‘round sky square ground’, translate into a creative weaving process of dreamy colors. This is an expression and a fusion of the CHENPENG contemporary approach and Chinese roots. The colliding worlds are in a way a reflection of today’s youth energy in China. For the catwalk shoes, a variety of Li Ning 2019 new collection were selected to align with the CHENPENG brand.
