Alexandria has traditionally been a symbol of power, culture and legacy, so it is only natural to use the city as a starting point of the new direction in men’s high jewellery that is inspired by the most powerful empire builders of history.
This new design style seeks to draw upon the historical heroes like Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and Genghis Khan, encompassing their eternal power and authority into quality jewellery that has been made in modern times.
This mix of past and present craftsmanship makes this type of men’s jewellery redefine the concept of masculinity not through ornamentation but through art.
Historical Power Reimagined Through Design
These jewellery ideas do not reproduce the past, but they redefine the history in terms of sculptural shapes and classical decorations and symbolic metals. The combination of natural gemstones, relief portraits, and high-quality decorative techniques speak in favor of the power and aspiration of rulers who contributed to the transformation of civilization.
The works are each in the form of a wearable narrative, combining the antique iconography with contemporary style that is pertinent and conscious. Three plans, Three civilizations.
Three Designs, Three Civilisations
Khan’s Dominion
In memory of the enormous Mongol Empire, the Dominion of Khan is offering a sculpted horseman of 18k yellow gold with either a Siberian nephrite jade ( of A-grade ) or a guilloché enamel that has been fired in the kiln. The jade is a source that was traditionally worshipped in Mongol society. The ring has a magnificent architectural feel with a shield-like border, which alludes to the original Mongolian armour.
Face of Rome
Face of Rome celebrates Julius Caesar, whose image is in relief, cut into deep red guilloché enamel which has been fired in the kiln at approximately 800 o C to give it its dramatic and light catching qualities. The shoulders of the ring resemble a Roman Scutum shield, with two natural rubies, which, in their turn, make the spectacle of Rome a declaration in itself.
Alexander The Great
Tribute to one of the greatest military leaders of all times, Alexander the Great recreates the shape of an ancient Greek drachm, recreated as a carved cameo of white agate. Smaller figures of Zeus and Bucephalus flank the hero image creating a three part tableau, which constructs a tale of the legend of Alexander in miniature.
Pendants, necklaces, and objects d’art will be launched in the future that are based on the history of the city of Alexandria and its own masculine language of design.
Expanding Beyond Rings
Although the rings are the base of this design movement, the future is loaded with pendants, necklaces, and collectible objects d’art. Both pieces carry on with the same narrative, based on historical storytelling and a highly masculine design language that emphasises permanence and meaning over fashion on a trend basis.
Traditional Craftsmanship Meets Modern Execution
These designs make use of ages-old crafts, including engine-turning guilloché and grand feu enamel, crafts that were traditionally used in only the best of the decorative arts and in watchmaking. The strength of solid gold forms offers durability and natural gemstones are selected because of the uniqueness and relative symbolism of that material instead of its homogenous quality.
The deliberate role is also played by colour. Enamel is crafted to capture historic scenes and events, historic landscapes of deep greens (open steppes), imperial authority with rich reds. Each of the material decisions is deliberate, which supports the storyline behind each artwork.
Made for Longevity and Legacy
Each item is a custom production of specialist artisans and as such, they have the opportunity to pay close attention to detail and quality. Pieces are characterized by the traditions of the proven assays, which guarantee the originality and correspondence to the ancient standards of goldsmithing.
Lead times are different depending on complexity as it will reflect the degree of craftsmanship. This approach is also based on customisation. Customers may order different gemstones or enamel colours, or even completely custom jewellery, such as one-of-a-kind decorative objects that would be a step above jewellery, and would become their own kind of heirloom art.
Addressing a Gap in Men’s Luxury
This historical and narrative-based approach to high jewellery in men is a response to an imbalance in the luxury market that has always prevailed. Although the high jewellery of women is developed with full creativity and narration, the men have most of the time been restricted to useful accessories.
These designs are against that trend by providing items that are emotionally charged, culturally rich, and meaningful over time. Unlike the mass makers, it is addressed to those who appreciate unique, handmade jewellery and tradition, that is, those who do not consider jewellery as a mere accessory, but rather the image of themselves and their aspirations.
The construction of these items is made so that they can live longer than just one life and therefore be given away to future generations where the histories of the past are not forgotten.
