Barshai Debuts SS25 “Pennies from Heaven” Collection at NYFW

0
Barshai, the New York-based atelier committed to meticulous craftsmanship and narrative-driven design, is pleased to unveil the latest collection for Spring / Summer 2025 titled, “Pennies from Heaven,” which debuted at New York Fashion Week on September 10th, 2024. The presentation took place within storied walls of St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery, an iconic venue that complements the collection’s exploration of heritage and modernity. “Pennies from Heaven” draws its name and inspiration from the classic 1930s song made famous by Billie Holiday. Expanding on the narrative concept of last season, Spring/Summer ‘25 takes the story of an abandoned gilded age home and explores not the building, but those who inhabited its dilapidated walls. The narrative comes alive for Spring / Summer ‘25 as an exploration of the fascinating, chimeric life of Consuelo Vanderbilt, America’s most famous “Dollar Princess.” Through this visual lens, Barshai reflects on the transition from Victorian elegance to Art Deco modernity, capturing the essence of the “new woman”, a 1920’s term to describe the shift in social conventions around female behavior from domestic to independent.   Barshai The collection features 12 looks, including a distinctive “hair” dress that marks the culmination of last season’s swirling “hair” bra. Key design elements include the extensive use of bias cuts and rosettes, a motif that blooms throughout the collection and is a direct reference to Consuelo’s 18th birthday during which she received a single American rose from her ill-fated first love. Grouped into three acts, Barshai’s Spring / Summer ‘25 tells the story of Consuelo’s life from childhood into her later years. The first four looks, cut in shades of white and navy, symbolize her life under her mother’s control, culminating in a crying bridal look. In act two, her early adulthood is celebrated through tailoring and a color palette of “burnt umber,” “twentieth-century teal” and “sage green.” Her later years are celebrated in act three through a surreal abstraction of pennies, embroidered onto corsets and integrated through print. “For Spring / Summer 2025, I decided to embrace the concept of unexpected good fortune, but with the understanding that even when it rains good news, they are only pennies from heaven,” says Erik Barshai, founder and creative director of Barshai. “This season, we focused on ‘flow,’ emphasizing soft wovens and the fluidity of movement, while continuing to push the boundaries of couture tailoring.” The presentation at St. Mark Church in-the-Bowery offered a 360-degree view of this narrative, with a cast of models bringing Consuelo’s story to life. Set against a backdrop of velvet-covered platforms, patina-laden chairs, and 20th-century pottery, the models reenacted pivotal moments from Consuelo’s life, offering the audience an immersive, cinematic experience. Barshai is pleased to invite you to embark on a journey of sartorial exploration with every creation, where luxury meets artistry and tradition intersects with modernity.

Iza By Silvia D’Avila
France’s influence on art, architecture, and culture has long been undeniable, and for Silvia D’Avila, designer that stands behind the brand, the connection to Paris runs deep, despite not being by heritage. Through years of study, travel, and observation, Paris became a place of profound inspiration. The designer frequently visits the city, finding beauty in its blend of old-world charm and modern-day life. Whether it’s witnessing children sketching in museums or sitting in a café surrounded by books, the everyday scenes of Paris continue to inspire creativity. Even without fluent knowledge of the language, the essence of the city is unmistakably felt. This sentiment has culminated in Silvia’s latest collection, Ode to Paris, which draws from years of admiration for the city’s elegance and artistic heritage. Inspired by the pages of art school books and real-life experiences, the collection is a tribute to Paris’s timeless beauty. Each piece is designed to evoke the same feelings of wonder and sophistication that the city itself embodies. With Ode to Paris, the designer invites wearers to experience a piece of that inspiration, blending classic influences with contemporary sensibilities.

With over 20 years of experience in the global accessories market, including buying, design, product development, and sourcing, Nikki created Patricia Stanley as a tribute to her two children. PK BIJOUX
PK Bijoux is the creation of PK, a California-based artist, former model, and citizen of the world. Like the best art, her work is intensely personal. She says she has a feeling that she doesn’t so much find her pieces but rather her pieces find her. She’s inspired by artists like Picasso, Basquiat, and de Kooning and designers such as Elsa Schiaparelli. Christian Lacroix, and Dries Van Noten. Perfection is never sought but emotions are. As Diana Vreeland said: “The eye has to travel.” When PK creates, she enters a state of dreamlike reverie where the outcome is never certain but always exceptional. The core values guiding PK Bijoux’s designs have been passed down from her Cherokee heritage: a pursuit of a holistic life, the beauty of everything under the sun, and little flaws and surprises in her work. They quite often just show up and she purposely does not address them. In American Indian cultures, tiny flaws or random diversions lead the bad spirits out of the piece. PK’s wearable art creations are inspired by eras such as ancient Egypt, the Hapsburg dynasty, la Belle Époque and her own Native American ancestry, and comprise anything from hand-carved jade, antique tassels from the 1800s, semi-precious stones, and Miriam Haskell jewelry, to everyday objects and antique market discoveries. It’s a brilliant take on sustainability! The artist originally makes every piece for herself, starting each creation with the idea that she will keep it, yet never wearing it, wanting the piece to be solely for its new owner. Each piece tells a story. Six collections comprise the work of PK Bijoux. The M. Antoinette Collection, featuring light yet baroque pieces, was inspired by the eponymous monarch. The Passion Collection captures the seduction of love with surprises that warm the heart. The Heroes Collection is an homage to heroic acts of yesteryear. The Saints Collection reveals PK’s style in which crosses become a modernistic, sophisticated design expression inspired by Verdura and Chanel. The Rebel Collection skirts the edge of over-the-top and channels our rebellious spark. The Runway Collection shares the excitement of international haute couture.

Private Policy New York 2025 Collection

0
PRIVATE POLICY’s SS2025 collection revisits the iconic 2000s fashion office, inspired by “The Devil Wears Prada,” to explore our evolving relationship with AI in the workplace. As technology reshapes our world, the collection asks whether we’ll sacrifice creativity and well-being for relentless efficiency or use AI to reclaim balance in our lives. The designs blend 2000s silhouettes with tech-inspired details, combining bold checker prints, florals, and clean suiting lines. Through this collection, PRIVATE POLICY critiques the potential loss of self-care and work-life balance, advocating for a future where creativity and self-expression take precedence over outdated corporate ideals. Step into the future of fashion with PRIVATE POLICY’s SS2025 collection, where the nostalgic allure of the 2000s fashion office, reminiscent of “The Devil Wears Prada” era, serves as a lens through which we examine our evolving relationship with AI in the workplace. Just as the film critiqued the relentless pursuit of perfection in the fashion industry, this collection questions whether we are willing to let AI drive us toward unyielding efficiency at the cost of our well-being and creativity. Can we strike a balance that allows technology to enhance our lives, or will we succumb to its pressures, eroding the work-life balance we’ve fought so hard to achieve? This collection reimagines the high-energy fashion office, now on the brink of AI-driven transformation. The runway show, inspired by the cinematic drama of “The Devil Wears Prada,” becomes a powerful metaphor for our approach to the AI “devil”—rejecting overwork and uninspired tasks in favor of celebrating our creative and intellectual worth. It’s a call to shape our careers with intention and purpose, resisting the unchecked advance of technology.   Private Policy With playful nods to fashion industry insider details, such as the iconic “Everyone wants to be us” quote, our designs cleverly reinterpret 2000s silhouettes with a distinctly fashion-office flair. This collection blends the sharp, bold style of the past with a modern, tech-inspired romanticism. Signature checker prints updated with florals subtly echo the “Florals, for Spring?” movie line, while silver hardware and distress details inject each piece with a sense of playful rebellion. The clean lines of suiting and shirting, combining delicate sequin, string knots, and sheer draped fabrics evoke a sleek, futuristic aesthetic, suggesting that AI tech might not be a robot takeover but rather a discreet, sartorial elegance seeping into every aspect of life. Perhaps what today’s generation truly seeks is not a return to the rigid hierarchies of Y2K corporate life, but the unapologetic ambition and dream-big energy of Y2K era, reimagined for a future that prioritizes creativity and self-expression over outdated notions of obedience and submission. ## Learn More @privatepolicyny With love, FWO

The fringe accent trend made a bold statement at the Grace Chen Splendid China Spring/Summer 2025 collection showcase, which concluded Runway 7’s NYFW. The first look features a soft, flowing gown in various shades of purple, with delicate fringe cascading down the dress, enhancing its movement and imbuing it with an ethereal quality. The second ensemble takes a bolder approach, showcasing a black geometric-patterned gown with long, sleek fringe accents at the arms, adding both drama and fluid motion to the design. The final look pairs a structured black ensemble with a cropped, printed jacket, highlighted by fringe trim along the sleeves, offering a modern twist on classic tailoring. Together, these designs demonstrate fringe as a standout detail, bringing texture and a playful yet sophisticated edge to the runway.   Runway 7 ## Learn More runway7fashion.com With love, FWO

Untitled & Co. SS25 Collection Made in Hollywood

0
The Untitled & Co. debut collection, “Made in Hollywood,” delves into the duality of the Los Angeles experience; a juxtaposition of the hopeful and disillusioned, the stars and the strugglers. Drawing inspiration from LA’s glittering allure, obscene celebrity pop-culture, West Coast rock and roll nostalgia, and tragic Hollywood glamour, the collection playfully presents an absurdly surreal narrative drenched in Californian sunshine, where dreams are simultaneously chased and shattered.   Untitled & Co. Bad Binch TONGTONG Whisper Across Dimensions

0
On September 7th, 2024, at 2:00 pm, within the hallowed walls of St. Bartholomew church, Bad Binch TONGTONG will unveil a collection that transcends the earth and pierces the stars. In this sacred space, where the divine meets the mortal, celestial beings descend to our world. These beings, alien to our ways, speak in tongues that elude our understanding. Yet, they grasp our languages, and through the grace of body language, they seek to connect with us, to bridge the chasm between their world and ours. The aliens, delicate as the breath of the cosmos, must shield themselves with shimmering air membranes, protecting their ethereal forms from the harshness of our atmosphere—from the oxidizing air and the radiation that threatens their very existence. Despite these dangers, they come forth, not in fear, but with a powerful message—a message of love, of the essential need for space, and of the silent, profound connections that bind all beings across the universe.   Bad Binch Photos: Oliver Halfin As they move through the church, their every gesture becomes a language of its own—a language that speaks straight to the soul. For designer Terrence Zhou, the show is not just a display of fashion but a sacred communion, a place where we can feel the presence of higher beings, where the dimensions overlap, and where LOVE is the only TRUTH that matters. This collection is a testament to the power of silence, movement, and the spaces we create for each other. It is a reminder that even in our differences, we are all part of a larger, cosmic dance. Your presence in this space, where fashion becomes a portal to the divine, is crucial. Every step, every sway, is a whisper from the stars. Here, in the heart of New York, we INVITE you to CONNECT, FEEL, and COMMUNICATE with the higher dimensions—where LOVE transcends all boundaries in its purest form. On the 7th of this month, as Saturn prepares to return, the creator takes a moment to rest and witness his creation on a Saturday.
About
Bad Binch TONGTONG is avant-garde fashion surrealism; every look is a sci-fi fever dream, a performance art experience, cranked up to eleven with campy, over-the-top designs that nods more to an Alien couture Runway than on Earth. This New York City-based brand is the brainchild of visionary designer Terrence Zhou, who is committed to defying conventional fashion. Zhou’s work is aggressively bold, loud, weird, and fabulous—creating statements that challenge our perceptions of modern fashion and the industry’s future. His visionary approach is not just about aesthetics but also about using sustainable materials and practices. He rejects traditional notions of functionality in favor of emotion, crafting designs that speak to the soul and echo throughout the realms. As a result, Bad Binch TONGTONG has received global recognition and accolades from top-tier publications like Vogue, Forbes, and The New York Times. Zhou’s designs have also captivated fashion icons like Kim Kardashian, Cardi B, and SZA. As a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and a finalist for the Vogue Fashion Fund China in 2023, Zhou is revolutionizing the fashion world with his unapologetically artistic vision, setting a new standard for New York fashion. ## Learn More @bad_binch_tongtong With love, FWO

SHAO New York Class of ’98: Rebellion Remastered

0
I‘m Shao Yang, and I’ve just unleashed my teenage angst all over the runway. “Class of ’98” isn’t just a collection; it’s a time warp, a middle finger to the sanitized, Instagram-filtered version of the 90s we’ve been force-fed. Picture this: It’s 1998 and you are 18. You’re zoning out in a high school classroom, slouched in your chair. Your freshly dyed hair is the latest in a series of at-home experiments. Your outfit screams 90s: a t-shirt over a long-sleeve, paired with corduroys. Worn-out Pumas reveal a sock through a hole, and a latchkey dangles from your neck. Under your desk, a Discman plays alt-rock through cheap headphones with crumbling foam earpads. The air is thick, underarms smell like teen spirit (RIP Kurt), and adulthood looms on the horizon. This snapshot of 90s teenage life sets the stage for our 35-look spectacle. This collection is built on the holy trinity of 90s textures: leather, denim, and cashmere. Leather screams rebellion like a second skin of attitude. Denim is our armor against a world gone mad. Cashmere? That’s the softness mocking the harsh realities we faced. Each piece is a battleground where prep school ambition collides with street-smart cynicism.   SHAO New York Photos: Randy Brooke I’ve gone all-in on trompe l’oeil because, let’s face it, the 90s were all about illusion. Shirts that aren’t shirts, skirts that aren’t skirts. It’s one big deception, like those infomercials selling Y2K survival kits or time-share properties. These garments are single entities playing dress-up as layers, mirroring how we layered our personas to survive the social battlefield of high school. The collection is a collision of contrasts. Pinstripes scream “I’m going places” while bombers whisper “I might just blow this joint.” Streetwear collides with Wall Street in a dark alley, and neither walks away unscathed. It’s Bret Easton Ellis’s “American Psycho” locked in a mosh pit with Kurt Cobain’s journal, while Irvine Welsh supplies the chemical soundtrack. This isn’t a nostalgia trip and I’m not doing this to romanticize the past. The 90s were a shitshow, but at least it was an authentic one. “Class of ’98” is my contributing injection of some of that raw, unfiltered reality into today’s sterilized fashion landscape. As these clothes strut by, I want you to feel uncomfortable. Question your nostalgia. Interrogate your identity. “Class of ’98” isn’t just clothes; it’s a state of mind. It’s the confidence of Cher from “Clueless” crashing into the existential crisis of Angela from “My So-Called Life.” It’s standing at the crossroads of analog and digital, unsure which way to turn but too apathetic to care. This is my love letter to a generation that stood on the brink of a new era, armored in freaky combat boots, striped-shirts, and a Discman (that started skipping the day after Christmas) full of angst. It’s for everyone who ever felt trapped between the expectation to grow up and the desire to never change. Welcome to my Class of ’98. Leave your expectations at the door. It’s going to be one hell of a ride. Just remember: in this class, there are no rules, because no one cares. But, there is a dress code, it is the name on the door. So, let’s cue the AOL Dial Up sound and start the show. ## Learn More @shaonewyork With love, FWO

This dedication ensures each piece reflects exceptional craftsmanship and a deep commitment to sustainable, ethically produced fashion.

Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™ Off-White™ Presents SS25 Collection “DUTY FREE”

0
Emotion can be a signature as powerful as a logo. The deepest and truest emotions are those steeped in one’s own biography and formative experiences. Thereafter, bringing traces of my life journey within the creative process charges my work with the energy I want the Off-White community to perceive. Pieces of clothing are way more than just objects. Whist keeping their useful and functional nature, they can convey narratives and be infused with soul, which is my aim within the emotional world Virgil created. This collection was triggered by a trip to Ghana, the place where Virgil came from and the roots he cherished and constantly referred to in his work. I was born in Sierra Leone, and eventually grew up in London, but our experiences were similar. I have vivid memories of what America, and New York in particular, represented in the collective imagination of Africans: a dreamland of utopias made real, a place of opportunities. The lotteries in which the main prize would be a possibility to enter the States were mayor events for us.   Off-White I chose DUTY FREE as the title for this new endeavor which represents a fusion of America and Africa, using sportswear as a cultural facilitator. The mix of sharp lines, athletic inspirations and African futurism sets the tone. A sense of tautness and functionality is evident in pieces meant to be interpreted in multiple ways, inventively responding to moments and needs. Mens and womenswear share the same spirit, the same African palette of neutrals and khakis lit with dashes of red, the same fierceness and energetic physicality, which is also very me. This is my most autobiographic outing in every respect. In Women’s we continued to explore a vertical, body-conscious slant, with wrapping and architectural cuts that sculpt the body, and decoration, embroideries and hand-painting that bring agitation onto the surfaces. Tailoring is functional, with a sharp feel to it; transparencies heighten the sensuality. The Off-White women are decisively powerful and seductive. Men’s silhouettes are utilitarian and lush, conveying an idea of modular urban uniform. Strategically placed zippers allow multipurposeness. Shredded denim, angular layering, quilting bring texture to the fore, while mesh and embroidery spice up the multicultural mix, to which embroidered sport numbers add an athletic tingle. The Off-White men come across as sensually in command. For both collection we partnered with Nana Danso, a Ghanaian contemporary artist whose art has gained recognition through his endless cast of characters and personalities. Danso was challenged to envisage the brands iconic arrows motif and to produce key symbols relating to the collections core themes. This collection oozes the inclusive spirit of New York as the place where dreamers gather. It is grounded in reality, with a dash of magic.
About Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™
Established in 2013, Off-White™ is defining the grey area between black and white as a color. Under the brand name, seasonal men’s and women’s clothing collections, objects, furniture, and publications are articulating a current cultural vision. Collections are embedded in a recurrent backstory, with an emphasis on creating garments that have an identity by design. With a design studio based in Milan, Italy, the label harnesses the country’s history and craftsmanship, yet offers a global perspective on design and trends. With a clear vision of splicing the reality of how clothes are worn with the artistic expression of high-fashion, creative director and designer Virgil Abloh explored concepts in the realm of youth culture in the contemporary context. ## Learn More @off____white With love, FWO
