CAAFD-Approved Designer RC Caylan’s LEGEND Collection at NYFW FW19
This NYFW, Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers’ (CAAFD) newly selected and approved fashion designer, RC Caylan, promoted female empowerment and paid tribute to Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman.”
Caylan shared exclusively with FWO: “My fall/winter collection, entitled ‘LEGEND, I Am Every Woman’ was inspired by the legend herself, Miss Whitney Houston. When I heard the news they would be making a documentary movie about her, I thought she would be a great inspiration for my new collection. She is one of my favorite artists of all time; I grew up singing to her music and listening to her songs until today. The whole look of my collection was inspired by her look when she started in the business; her looks from the late ’70s, ’80s and early ’90s.”

Whitney Houston’s favorite style was dramatic and gravitated toward felt velvets, sparkle, shimmer and high-shine on everything she wore.
More so, the LEGEND Collection captured her iconic fashion style. It surely screams drama and luxury. Caylan clearly knows how to mix old Hollywood glamour and a fashion-forward approach at the same time. The luxurious fabrics and metallic threads in bold and vibrant fall colors; minimal yet dramatic ruffle ensemble; and holiday sparkle adorned with beaded leaf appliqué, floral beaded embroidery and feather fringe accents — all made his fall/winter collection stand out, and one of a kind.
