Held from April 14 to 17 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Volvo Fashion Week México Guadalajara delivered one of the strongest editions in its trajectory.
This week positioned the city as a rising creative capital in Latin America’s fashion landscape. With a program that moved between architectural rigor, cultural reinterpretation, and youth-driven rebellion, three designers stood out for the depth of their proposals and the clarity of their creative voice.
1. Abel López — Autumn/Winter 26
Showing at the Edificio Arróniz, Abel López presented one of the most structurally refined collections of the week. His AW26 proposal drew inspiration from La Minerva, Guadalajara’s emblem of strength and character, translating monumental sculpture into fashion through firm silhouettes, defined volumes, and a construction that evokes the solidity of marble without falling into literalism. A palette of greys, whites, ochres, and blacks paired with mineral-like materials, subtle sequins, and geometric accents created a powerful architectural narrative where each look moved like a sculptural piece in motion.
In this framework, premium footwear brand Dione became an essential aesthetic ally. Its black and nude stilettos and ankle boots, defined by clean lines and polished finishes, extended the verticality of the garments without competing with them. Nude tones elongated the mineral looks, while black styles anchored the more structured silhouettes. Subtle yet decisive, Dione reinforced the architectural elegance of the collection, becoming a natural extension of López’s design vision.

2. Liberal Youth Ministry
Created by Antonio Zaragoza, Liberal Youth Ministry reaffirmed its status as one of Mexico’s most globally resonant brands. With a presence in destinations such as Dover Street Market and a curated selection of international retailers, LYM continues to shape the pulse of contemporary youth culture. The collection unfolded as a debate in movement, where each garment claimed its place within a narrative built on tension and attitude. From vintage silks interwoven with sweatshirts to signature tees, tunics, hoodies, and leather pieces, the proposal celebrated a rebellious, expressive, and oniric aesthetic rooted in the energy of an adolescent wardrobe.

3. Alfredo Martínez — “Tapatía”
With “Tapatía”, Alfredo Martínez delivered a deeply emotional tribute to his hometown. Drawing from the spirit of Guadalajara and the cultural codes of mariachi, he reinterpreted traditional elements, button details, bows, and embroidery through a sophisticated contemporary lens. A palette of black, white, and red built a striking visual identity, while silks, brocades, and knitwear created a dialogue between craftsmanship and modernity. The result was an intimate, symbolic collection that honored identity, memory, and the pride of place, positioning Martínez as one of the most compelling voices in the region’s evolving fashion narrative.

Volvo Fashion Week Mexico is rapidly becoming a reference point in LATAM’s fashion circuit, and these three designers exemplify why. From sculptural precision to cultural reinterpretation and youth-driven experimentation, they represent the diversity and ambition defining Mexico’s creative scene, and they are poised to shape its trajectory on the global stage.
