In a time that barely allows hesitation, we are constantly pushed to decide who we are and who we are becoming.
Growth no longer unfolds gradually. It demands immediate resolution. Within this accelerating rhythm, identity is compressed into something that must be defined instantly.
“We need a space where we are not expected to perform, where we don’t have to define ourselves in a single day,” says designer Qixin. “A space where we can create without purpose and simply exist.”
The r.l.e Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, Play House, emerges from this desire. Inspired by a line from Wild Flowers, “For a while I was half skin half breath, neither one thing nor another,” the collection inhabits a state of becoming that is suspended, undefined, and still forming.

Rather than nostalgia, Play House becomes a structure, a rehearsal of identity without consequence. The 1920s appear as a temporal reference not only through silhouette but also through pace. It was a time when waiting still existed, when communication required delay, and when identity did not need to resolve itself overnight.
Buttercream cakes, tulle skirts, cropped trousers, and bra structures — elements that feel almost forbidden in adulthood — are reassembled in a contemporary language. Vintage references merge with modern construction through delicate fabrics and contrasting textures. Softness and structure, transparency and weight coexist within the same garment.
Craft remains central to the collection. Crochet and knotting techniques transform discarded fabric scraps into new textiles, while hand-knit garments make time physically tangible. The process remains visible, slow, and intentional. It introduces a subtle shift of tempo within an industry defined by speed.
This season also introduces a capsule collaboration with youth-focused brand imyourAnkin. The partnership brings together playful silhouettes and r.l.e’s handcrafted vocabulary, creating pieces that move between maturity and innocence, structure and spontaneity. Rather than contrast, the collaboration becomes a dialogue. It explores how growth can occur without abandoning the self.
In collaboration with ceramic artist Dai, sculptural buttercream cakes reinterpret celebration as permanence. What would normally melt or disappear is preserved in ceramic form. Sweetness is suspended and joy extended. In a culture of rapid consumption, the gesture asks whether identity, like pleasure, might also be allowed to endure.
Through play, craft, and the extension of time, Play House proposes a temporary pause within acceleration. It offers a space to linger at the edges, to experiment without finality, and to grow without urgency.
