XLLULLAN F/W18 Installation & Soho Launch Event

Represented by EB Consults Worldwide.

Emerging Designer Xuanxuan Li will debut her new XLLULLAN Soho gallery/pop-up shop on Tuesday, April 3rd at 349 West Broadway from 7-10 pm.

The launch event will be co-hosted by interior designer Fiona Byrne, who will create the aesthetic of the gallery. The event will feature an installation of the XLLULLAN F/W18 collection, and the shop showing the Spring 2018 collection will remain open through May. The opening celebration will feature music by The Misshapes’ Geordon Nichol and Leigh Lezark.

The white, gallery-like setting, will allow the dark colors displayed in the collection to stand out. As Xuanxuan Li describes, “Many of the artistic aspects of XLLULLAN are drawn from literature, film and visual arts. Elements from nature, prominently featured in my collections, contrast the manufactured feel of metallic materials.” Adding to the product selection, the shop will include accessories brands that represent the best of craftsmanship from millinery and scarves, including Asiya and BJ couture. “At the core of my creative vision lies the idea ‘craft meets fashion’. My goal is to build a visual story around both fashionable and wearable art by using unconventional combinations of materials and innovative fabric treatment techniques,” adds Li.

Introducing the Fall/Winter 2018 Collection: Opera Seria

The “Opera Seria” Collection, true to its name, combines delicate, luxurious and simplistic components. These factors can be seen from the use of transparency against the embroidered wool fabrics to the incorporation of Chinese sand-washed silk double sided with hickory and dreamy royal blue hues. The introduction of metallic ocean wave patterns and beaded faux fur embroidery creates volume and dimension which creates a movement that
follows the wearer. Black and silver dyed fox fur trims will magnify the collection which is sourced from The North American Fur Auction. Combining silk and intarsia knits for sweaters and dresses along with wool jacquard as the fabric for puffer jackets gives this collection functionality without losing fashionability. Nature inspired flower and leaf patterns with raw edges, a variety of textured materials and novelty fabrics, brilliant and muted colors that progressively desaturate.

F/W 2018 Opera Seria – Act 1: Aria
Aria has proven to be reminiscent of a time when luxury was complemented by simplicity. Strong angles are enhanced with a quality of transparency against embroidered wool fabric and once again softened by embroidery on silk netting and metallic threading. Aria modernizes a timelessly elevated style by incorporating Chinese sand washed silk which is double sided with hickory and royal blue hues in a combination that is dreamlike in essence.

Act 2: Bel Canto
“Bel Canto” is style dominated but not confined to the delicacy of touch and harmony of tone. The introduction of metallic ocean wave patterns magnifies the contrast created by the beaded faux fur embroidery which has distinct volume creating a movement that follows the wearer as if she were descending on clouds. Dimension is then added using layers of varying transparency among the pleated fabrics and hand crocheted knit. A strong plastic essence then adds a modern quality to this classic delight. Act 3: Verismo
“Verismo” embodies the quality of realism in fashion, combining silk and intarsia knits sweaters and dresses as well as wool jacquard as the fabric for puffer jackets. This collection features both brilliant and muted colors that progressively desaturate creating a feeling of serenity. Nature inspired flower and leaf pattern with raw edges which meet the fabric and forge an organic silhouette while also employing metallic trim. The collection features a variety of textured materials and novelty fabrics.
