Women Empowerment, Diversity & Women of Color Take Over Miami Swim Week

Descalzo Shows at Miami Swim Week

Descalzo Shows presented their third annual showcase at Miami Swim Week reminded guests the reason why they were in attendance, not just for beautiful models and gorgeous swimwear, but empowering the woman behind the brand. Hosted by Tayo Ishola, eight designers showcased their collections at Kimpton Angler’s. The designers included: Mei-Ling Millet of KOKI Swimwear, Natalia Garcia of KK Swimwear, Tricia Campbell of Glamour Glamour Swimwear, Jessine Chase of Gitchi Gami Swimwear, Lanae Dedeaux of Lust Swim, Ana Stulic of Ana Stulic Collective, Passion Fruit Beachwear, and Andrea Seemayer of A. Lynn Designs.

As the only production company focused on working directly with female owned business and designers within the luxury lingerie, swim & resort market, Descalzo Shows offers diversity and emphasizes collaboration over competition, while providing the tools and resources to help grow their brands and ultimately, themselves. Produced by Industry veteran and Award-Winning fashion show producer, Ashley-Victoria Smith and Frank Patterson with music & sound by James (DJ Red) Brewer. Descalzo Shows also sponsored the Wonder Woman Initiative powered by Eido Swimwear.

Honoring female survivors and women thriving in business, wellness, and philanthropy within our community, Wonder Woman Initiative brings together women from the region. This year, with the support of Miami Beach Commissioner Michael C. Gongora, the brand honored burn survivor Ana Gonzalez. In 1993, Ana Gonzalez suffered 3rd degree burns in an accident with gasoline from a propane portable oven. She was placed in an induced coma for 2 weeks and was given very little chance of survival. Today, Ana is graduate of the University of South Florida, she lives with courage and has been able to thrive irrespective of bullying she has experienced throughout the years. The event also honored Transformational, Coach Jennifer Nicole Lee, Domestic Violence survivor Amanda Chattic, and Wellness Entrepreneur Carla Joseph.

Descalzo Shows wants to remind women that, ‘when we come together, powerful things happen’ and that ‘you’re not dimming your light by helping other women shine’. Registration for their new show, Swim Craze at Miami Swim Week 2020 and British Virgin Islands is now open.
