Walgreens Sparks Sun Protection Awareness at Milk Studios Rooftop Event

Walgreens brought hundreds of top-tier editors, journalists and influencers together to talk about sun-protection as we’re just one week away from the official start of summer. Guests mingled through activations, danced on Milk Studios rooftop to music by DJ Nianga Niang and true the event theme, enjoyed underwater themed cocktails and fresh seafood.
Guests also cleaned their face of any makeup and stepped in front of the camera of UV Portrait Photographer, Pierre Louis Ferrerr, had their portraits shot under a UV light, exposing the impact of sun damage to their faces. All were surprised but eager to learn more and speak with Dermatologist, Dr. Rachel Nazarian on what the dark spots truly mean. Dr. Nazarian spoke with everyone, debunking common skin care myths and provided guests with proven tips to help prevent further skin damage.
The event was held to bring a light to Walgreens caring about sun-protection for skin cancer prevention and tying back to the companies larger campaign that launched just a few days ago. During the month of June, Walgreens and its health system partners will host free skin screenings at Walgreens in-store health clinics in select markets. On these days, local dermatologists or qualified nurse practitioners will be present at the clinics to provide free skin health checks and consultations to customers.
For the second year, Walgreens has partnered with The Skin Cancer Foundation on its Destination: Healthy Skin program. The national mobile education program features a customized RV with two private exam rooms where local dermatologists volunteer their time to provide free full-body skin cancer screenings to the public.
