The Paper Fig Foundation Presents the 2nd Annual Paper Fig 560 Merging Fashion, Art and Fitness!

From June 1-9, a team of Paper Fig Foundation supporters will cycle 560 miles along the Empire State Trail, raising awareness and funds for the organization, which is devoted to using fashion and the arts to unleash women’s power in East Africa.

Beginning at Niagara Falls and culminating at Battery Park in Manhattan, Ron Voller, Annerose Muyombano, and their crew hope to introduce the people of New York to the cause of the Paper Fig Foundation, and to get others to join in the ride along the way.

Through a health center and skills training center in Uganda, The Paper Fig Foundation has helped thousands of people to live healthier and more independent lives. Annerose Muyombano, a Rwandan-German jewelry designer who joined the Paper Fig board this year, is flying to New York to participate in this epic ride.

“I wanted to do more to show that small actions do make a difference and can have a great impact on people,” said Muyombano. “For me being part of the PFF and participating in the 560-mile bike ride this year is an important step toward fulfilling one of my personal life missions.”

Ron Voller wanted to support PFF because of the impact he’s seen first-hand when he’s visited the skills training center and health center in Uganda.

“I’ve seen people’s lives changed because of the work of PFF,” said Voller. “Girls who couldn’t afford to go to school graduating with the skills they need to support themselves and their families, children vaccinated against some of the deadliest diseases in the world. At a time when we are so isolated from each other in so many ways, I wanted to do something to show we are still connected.”

With events and opportunities to join the ride all across New York State, The Paper Fig 560 is an opportunity to take action to support women’s empowerment in East Africa and worldwide.
