TAAKK Autumn-Winter 2026 Collection

I find myself powerfully drawn to the ancient Jomon culture,” says Takuya Morikawa.

“The Jomon period spanned nearly ten millennia, from around ten thousand years ago – a time when life in Japan was that of hunting and gathering.

The Jomon period cultivated the lands, living in harmony with nature; the forest, ocean, rivers and all.

As an island nation, Japan is home to a variety of intricate terrain and four distinct seasons.

The Jomon thrived in this perpetually shifting environment of life and death, mankind and nature, fate and happenstance.

Jomon creations are livid with the immense energy wrought from the people’s attempt at coexistence.

Bold forms that ebb and flow full of life.
These are the imprints of a raw and unfiltered life and must be the manifestations of
the nature’s power that goes beyond simple interpretation or symbolism.
And they are a stark contrast from the quaint minimalism that “Japanese Beauty” is recognized for.
Within our deeply engrained history exists another face of Japan.

I feel it within myself as well.
An explosive impulse that cannot be restrained.
An animalistic passion that drives me to disrupt harmony.
Intense. Dynamic. Avant-garde.
For me, this is a sensation that transcends time and action.

This drive that exists within us and that which forms TAAKK’s core – this collection was born as the culmination of these.

Within a refined exterior is a fire.
Look closer to the minimal framework to find a complex and intertwined expression.
A faint dissonance exists within everyday wear.
And this discord gives birth to strength.

Form is not something that should be governed by intention alone.
The artisan’s hands read the flow of the fabric with their precise needlepoint.
The inscriptions free both artist and material to be reborn as something greater than the sum of their parts.

This is neither a reproduction of the past nor a glorification of the ancient ways.
It is an attempt to bring forth and elevate our dormant sensibility.
An attempt to unsettle today.”
