Son Jung Wan Spring 2019: New York Fashion Week

Son Jung Wan NYFW FW19

Represented by Deborah Hughes, Inc.

Drama returns to the runway with Son Jung Wan’s latest for Spring/Summer 2019 show Saturday, September 9, 2019.

The Korea-born designer this season found inspiration in what she’s calling “a dramatic move” by way of highlighting glamour and exaggerated silhouettes.

The collection looks to various eras and extracts key stylistic touch points from these times past. Take the heightened volume of the 1970s and ‘80s; while echoes of 1940s and ‘60s romance ground the collection with a vintage feel. Yet, above all, the collection takes these top notes and threads them in uniquely modern ways.

Puff sleeves rendered in prints of Green Flash and Liberty florals meet fuschia rose A-lines wrapped in dandelions. Throughout the collection are bold, passionate pops of poppy contrasted by stark clean white. Finishes of 3D laces and holographic fabrics projected onto to vintage-inspired tailored shapes keep the collection contemporary; while spangle and beading evoke glamour as florals bring a sense of luxury. These romantic and chic silhouettes, through draping and tailoring, produce a vibrant rhythm for Spring.

For Spring / Summer 2019, Son Jung Wan unveils a most dramatic collection, filled with boldness matched by minimalism and maximalism, that brings vigor and glamor to the most rejuvenate season.
