Runway Beauty at AKNVAS: Savor Beauty Brings Sok-gwang Pibu to New York Fashion Week

The Korean luxury skincare company brings its Korean Beauty ritual backstage at AKNVAS, creating lit-from-within skin with a soft satin finish

At New York Fashion Week, Savor Beauty brought sok-gwang pibu backstage at AKNVAS a Korean Beauty expression for the subtle, healthy glow that appears to come from within the skin. For AKNVAS’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation, that translated into lit-from-within skin, deeply hydrated with a soft satin finish, creating a luminous complexion designed to catch the runway light.

As the skincare and skin-prep partner for AKNVAS’s Chapter III: Swans Before Innocence, Savor Beauty’s estheticians worked model by model at the hair and makeup stations alongside hair lead Rutger and makeup lead Linda Gradin and their teams. Each model received a personalized 10-minute Korean Beauty ritual designed to leave the complexion smooth, balanced, supple and ready for makeup. The Savor Beauty team worked backstage in black smocks by Noel Asmar.

The ritual began with Jasmine Milk Cleanser, followed by Toning Mist to refresh and lightly hydrate the complexion. The star of the backstage ritual was Hyaluronic Acid Serum, flooding the skin with lightweight hydration and creating a plump, smooth canvas for makeup. Each model then received a moisturizer selected according to their skin, followed by a brief upward facial massage to help wake up the complexion and release facial tension.

For the male models, Savor Beauty’s Sapphire After-Shave Gel was incorporated into the skincare ritual, providing lightweight hydration and care as part of their customized skin prep.

The result was sok-gwang pibu: lit-from-within skin that was deeply hydrated with a soft satin finish, with a subtle luminosity that appeared to come from within rather than sitting on the surface. The complexion provided a polished, natural foundation for the makeup and the clothes to take center stage.

The approach was particularly fitting for Fashion Week, as models move between shows and beauty looks, subjecting their complexions to repeated makeup application and removal. Savor Beauty’s ritual gave each model’s skin a focused moment of personalized care before the final layers of hair and makeup came together.

For Chapter III: Swans Before Innocence, AKNVAS designer Christian Juul Nielsen looked to the lingering light of a Scandinavian summer and Hans Christian Andersen’s The Wild Swans. The collection moved between everyday dress and something more enchanted, with flowers, sculpted shapes and sheer layers suggesting a world that felt both tender and slightly untamed.

That sensibility carried through to the beauty. Savor Beauty’s softly luminous, satin-finished complexion provided a refined foundation for the collection’s delicate details, from tiny flowers suspended from sheer layers to mixed-striped cottons that reimagined classic shirting, sculpted shapes and asymmetric lace gowns drawn up with ribbons. The lit-from-within skin caught the runway light with a quiet luminosity, complementing the collection’s interplay of transparency, texture and movement.

Front row guests included Niki DeMar, Erin Dana Lichy of The Real Housewives of New York City, and actress Kate Walsh.

For Savor Beauty, the AKNVAS collaboration brought the brand’s personalized approach to Korean Beauty skincare into one of Fashion Week’s most fast-moving environments. The result was a complexion designed not simply to look radiant, but to make the skin itself feel like an essential part of the finished runway look.

Founded by former concert pianist Angela Jia Kim, Savor Beauty is a Korean luxury skincare company known for its Korean Beauty rituals, New York Made skincare and personalized spa experiences. The brand operates two NYC spas: its West Village location at 327 W 11th Street and its Upper West Side location at 448 Columbus Avenue.
