As in an ode to resilience, Ludovico Bruno, Creative Director of Mordecai, talks about the extraordinary adaptability of human beings.
He presents a personal perspective, a reflection through a positive lens on the aspects of life which we approach with a certain lightness nowadays, but which used to be sources of discomfort and pain in the past.
The Intelligence of Others, or the ability to take different points of view into account. To open oneself to others. Points of view that differ from ours are powerful catalysts for evolution, that can open our mind to new visions, opinions and ideas. One should never close in on oneself. It is important to embrace others, to learn to be receptive. In this way the motion of the individual towards evolution spreads like a wave, and soon becomes a movement of the masses.
People move fast, and practicality is essential. Down jackets function as shields, ready to protect and comfort with their softness and enveloping design. Garments are multifunctional and adapt to the needs of the wearer thanks to their construction and through layering. Every piece serves a purpose, both as a standalone element or when combined or layered with others. Outwear lies at the heart of Mordecai’s collections. As do nylon and cotton. The latter in a ultralightweight cotton muslin version. Also canvas, with its more military structure, and garmentdyed and washed cotton twill to add movement.
Mordecai
There is a rigour that is almost military, but with a gentle edge. Functionality shapes the silhouettes of trousers, with extra space and pockets revealed by an open side zip. They become straighter and tighter-fitting when the zip is closed.
Ivory, mud, black, concrete grey and caramel sand. And patterns inspired by the designs on Azerbaijani rugs.
Ethereal pashmina, cupro viscose and dry wool for the new women’s looks, where the classic Mordecai colours are joined by a novel shade of dune.
