Leanne Marshall Fall 2018: New York Fashion Week

Leanne Marshall NYFW FW18

Leanne Marshall has come a long way since her victory on Project Runway, but she hasn’t lost any of her identity. Architecturally inspired and sustainably focused, her new collection was a beautiful way to wind down fashion week in New York.

Opening with more structured pieces, shethen evolved her looks into fluid gowns with lots of movement and texture. She incorporated models diverse in both size and ethnicityto present each piece of her collection.

Structured waves were a common theme throughout the line, visible on necklines, sleeves and hems. She was certainly inspired by her adoration for summer and detestation of winter, as she indicated in a backstage interview prior her show.

The finale dresswas a head-turner. A drop waist ball gown, strapless but also with sleeves, walked down the runway while everyone’s phones were out to capture the moment.

The makeup was dark and dramatic. The hair was haphazardly thrown up into low buns with damp, loose pieces – in a good way. Leanne’s girl was feminine, but tough. A girl that doesn’t take any bull from anyone.
