The Harmony Program is excited to announce they have recently tripled the number of students they serve, expanding to 3,000 for the 2023-24 school year! Most of the programs’ growth is occurring in the Bronx, expanding their presence within the school day, where music belongs, serving grades K-8 in eleven different Bronx schools.
The Harmony Program will be providing general music instruction including bucket drums, recorder, violin, viola, and cello.
Due to the growth of the program in the Bronx, the nonprofit is also in the process of creating the Bronx-based Creative Ensemble, that will run in addition to the already established Manhattan-based Concert Orchestra and All Stars Orchestra.
In addition, beginning in December, the young students of the Harmony Program will have the rare opportunity to play side by side with the Grammy-Award winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. The program brings Orpheus’ collaborative music-making process with underserved NYC public school students from all five boroughs. The orchestra will work with the Harmony Program All Stars Young Artists and coach them on the art of playing in a chamber orchestra setting.
