Fall Makeup Trends To Look Your Absolute Best

Fall Makeup Trends Worth Trying

With the summer season slowly coming to an end, it is time to turn your attention to fall and all the new makeup and fashion opportunities it presents. In the fashion world, each new season brings along a range of exciting trends ready to be embraced and loved, and the makeup scene is no different.

From a bold red lip achieved using your favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick and sultry siren eyes to barely-there makeup and excentric metallic detailing, there has never been a better time to embrace your inner artist and experiment.

A Bold Red Lip

There has rarely been a time in recent history that the iconic red lip has fallen out of trend. And the fall season of 2023 will be no different. A classic glamour look made famous by the enchanting Audrey Hepburn, the bold red perfectly ties into the autumnal color palette of the season.

A good red lip will instantly transform your entire look in the best possible way, either complementing the rest of your outfit or acting as a standout feature against a neutral background. To maintain a crisp and clean line that doesn’t ‘leak,’ line your lips first in a matching color for a seamless blend. Alternatively, choose a tone one or two shades lighter that will need slightly more blending for the same effect.

Underpainting

If you are unfamiliar with what underpainting is, it is a makeup technique for achieving smooth, fresh-looking skin with no harsh lines in sight. It was made popular by makeup artist Mary Phillips, who showcased it on her social media.

The idea is relatively simple. You need to do your makeup routine backwards, blending your contour and undereye concealer before applying your foundation. This fresh and new approach means you are left with seamlessly blended skin to highlight all your best features.

Metalic Moments

The fall 2023 season was all about metallic accents, a fitting addition to the rise of silvery pants and other accessories. To achieve this effect, you can choose from a variety of different techniques and products based on how big of an impact you want.

Chanel chose to celebrate the trend with subtle shiny shadows in silver and dark grey, while fashion giant Louis Vitton went all out with quirky and lustrous undereye decorations. The versatility of this trend makes it perfect to personalize according to your style and preferences, allowing it to complement any finished look.

Shimmer Cheeks

The days of dewy face glosses are a thing of the past. Instead, use a shimmery but not sparkly powder to create a beaming and pin-pointed cheek glow in this hottest new trend. It is an effect that works for all skin tones, with plenty of opportunities to personalize your final look with different colors and shades.

Rare Beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, and Pat McGrath all offer powder highlighters that will tick every box for this glowing look, an effect that is only multiplied when put in front of the camera.

Siren Eyes

Unlike many other beauty trends that have gone viral on social media but quickly fizzled out, siren eyes continue to cement itself in the beauty world. It is a play on the smudged winged eyeliner look, with the inner corner being lined as well.

Perfecting the final look will take some practice. Still, the easiest way to recreate it at home is by applying a waterproof eyeliner pencil to the tip of an angled liner brush, stamping out the inner and outer corners of your eyes for the crisp wing effect.

Bleached Eyebrows

Celebrities jumped on the bleached eyebrow trend throughout 2022, so it is no surprise that it has carried over into the new fall trends of 2023. This 90s-inspired look can be paired with any style or beauty look and worn with any outfit, as seen by labels like Area and Gucci.

If bleaching your brows is too much of a commitment to make, you can achieve the same desired effect by using concealer. It is essential to use full-coverage concealer to keep your look lasting, setting it all in place with a dusting of setting powder.

Cool-Toned Shadows

Cool-toned eyeshadows are set to become the new go-to neutrals in 2023, with colors like dusty mauve, blush pink and smokey grey firmly leading the trend. Think soft, hazy brushes of color that wrap around the eye and look lived-in and worn.

Pair it with winged pencil eyeliner for a smudged, smokey effect, a look recently seen on model Gigi Hadid. Test multiple colors to find the perfect shade to match your skin tone, or get outside your comfort zone with something new and exciting.

Minimal is More

If heavy makeup and bold colors are not your cup of tea, the good news is that minimal makeup is a big trend for fall in 2023. Labels like Proenza Schouler and Tod’s took the ‘less is more’ approach on the runway, highlighting simple and natural looks.

While the ‘no-makeup makeup’ trend has been around for years, the current variation focuses on lightweight foundations and concealers, skin-like finishes, and natural-toned shades.
