Itadakimasu is the word Japanese people say with their hands together before a meal.
It carries deep respect and gratitude for the lives, nature, and the people who cultivate our food.
It reminds us that our lives are sustained by an immense circle of life.
We can live because of the food raised and harvested by those working in primary industries.
For doublet’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, we have translated the spirit of gratitude embodied in the word “itadakimasu” into clothing.
Doublet
We encountered people deeply committed to recycling fishing nets discarded from golden eye snapper fishing, and the philosophy of Sky High Farm, an organization that cultivates society through food. We also encountered materials born from discarded eggshell membranes, fish leather from a fishing port in Kochi, and game leather.
Through these encounters with passionate individuals working for the future of our planet and with various materials that evoke connection and circularity, anew meaning and purpose emerged in our clothing making.
“What makes a good material?”
“What is the true meaning of luxury?”
While exploring these questions, the word that came to mind was “itadakimasu.” Through this collection, we hope you can feel the spirit of “itadakimasu.”
