Coco Rocha Closes the Spring 2020 New York Fashion Week Runway Debut of Victoria Hayes
Represented by MAO PR.
Victoria Hayes’ debut runway showing yesterday at Spring Studios drew the likes of actresses Kimmy Shields and Caylee Cowan, Miss Jay Alexander, violinist Ezinma, influencers Krystal Bick, Lisa DiCicco Cahue and captured the rapt attention of the fashion industry. The Spring / Summer 2020 collection was inspired by the movie ‘SPACE JAM’ and a 90s nostalgia when Hayes, a self described tomboy during her childhood, played basketball for 8 years. Swarovski crystals punctuated sport silhouettes such as oversized blazers, jumpsuits and nylon windbreakers giving these staples a luxurious spin.
Hayes launched her label in 2016 and has since dressed the likes of Madonna, Lady Gaga, Andra Day, Cardi B, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande and a host of the most glamorous red carpet showstoppers. Included in this prestigious lineup of Hayes’ celebrity fans is supermodel Coco Rocha who not only wears her clothing on and off the red carpet but also walked in the designer’s debut show.

With astute attention to detailing with hand painted prints, colorful silks and ornate embellishments, the Victoria Hayes collection explores the dichotomy of present-day womanhood: Beautiful and aggressive, romantic yet protective, tough but precious.
A Toronto Native, Hayes landed in New York after her last year of pre-med studies at McMaster University with a realization that her passion for fashion outweighed her interest in pursuing medicine. Hayes enrolled in summer courses at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and later at Parsons The New School for Design where she graduated with a BFA as well as winning the prestigious school’s top honor, Women’s Wear Designer of the Year in 2014. Internships during her schooling included placements at top labels in the fashion Industry such as Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Alvin Valley, Suno, and Honor. Hayes is the 2019 recipient of the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award for Womenswear.
