The Grandmaster
CHOCHENGCO unveils its first Couture collection in Paris
CHOCHENGCO (formerly CHOCHENG), founded by designer Cho Cho Cheng, is a distinguished womenswear label known for its meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to sustainability.
With a flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue, the brand champions the exclusive use of 100% natural materials and cruelty-free practices. Each garment is hand-sewn in London, employing traditional Savile Row tailoring techniques and eschewing commercial interfacing and machine finishing in favor of a fully bespoke, artisanal approach. From handmade shoulder pads to intricate embroidery and beading, every detail reflects a devotion to artistry, precision, and timeless elegance.
This season marks a pivotal milestone in the brand’s evolution, as CHOCHENGCO presents its first-ever Haute Couture collection in Paris, ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2026. In line with this new chapter, the brand is transitioning from CHOCHENG to CHOCHENGCO, marking its shift from ready-to-wear to a couture-focused identity.
Having emerged from custom orders for a select clientele, the label gradually expanded into ready-to-wear for the official calendar of NYFW before returning this season to its original passion: Couture.

Crafted entirely from vegan materials, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection is the epitome of conscious couture. Using cotton in innovative and transformative ways to create luxe finishes, such as cotton boucle, cotton moleskin, cotton velvet as well as other vegan and upcycled materials, each look embodies the brand’s ethical values.
The collection also spotlights CHOCHENGCO’s signature color palette, with rich and theatrical tones of fuschia, magenta and lipstick tones of red — colors that reflect the brand’s cinematic sensibility and flair for drama.
After drawing past inspiration from films such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, James Bond, and The Pink Panther, this season’s narrative is driven by the visually captivating and philosophically complex world of Wong Kar-Wai’s The Grandmaster. Using cotton organdie ruffled to replace the fur used in the movie, the result is a collection that merges martial discipline and poetic elegance, with a scent of romantic intrigue, reinforcing CHOCHENGCO’s place at the intersection of fashion, cinema, and cultural storytelling.
