Chanel Joan Elkayam Show FW19

Chanel Joan Elkayam Show FW19

The vibe/inspiration for Chanel Joan Elkayam’s AW19 collection was about an independent woman with a sovereign mind who believes in the empowerment of women. She is a feminine, seductive leader who is at the same time opulent and chic. She is fearless and unstoppable. She is also powerful and comfortable in her own body.

The young designer Chanel Joan Elkayam implements this message within the aesthetic of her designs and with the launch of the campaign “I DON’T FOLLOW I LEAD”. In that, everyone should lead their lives on their own terms unconstraint of others expectations.

The models for the show have been selected very carefully in order to implement diversity and inclusion. The show was opened by Munroe Bergdorf – transgender model and activist, followed by Kate Grant, and continued by models from different races (Asian, black, white etc) and ages.

4 years old model Ava who is half Asian, half English, walked along side model Ceci Zhang who is also Asian. They were teamed to walk together in an identical dress as a ‘Mini Me’ set and looked like mother and daughter.

Ceci and Ava (who is the youngest model in London Fashion Week) both wore a white hand embellished tulle dress – creations of Chanel Joan Elkayam.

The live music for the show was performed by Benedict Cork.
