Indian-American designer Bibhu Mohapatra (b. 1972, Odisha, India) trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he won the Critics’ Award for Best Evening Wear, then worked at Halston and spent nearly a decade as design director at J. Mendel before launching his own label in 2008. His work is defined by craftsmanship-driven luxury womenswear and eveningwear, often drawing on the textiles and techniques of his native India.
