Boontheshop x Bon Marché

Boontheshop x Bon Marché

Represented by OBCM.

BOONtheshop, Seoul’s most prestigious avant-garde boutique, is coming to Bon Marché, Paris’ oldest and most iconic department store. The new retail hotspot will be a destination founded on the principles of balance, purity, and holistic creation. With origins in the world of beauty and wellness – in fact ‘boon’ means ‘powder’ in Korean – BOONtheshop has nurtured a unique lifestyle perspective in Korea, as a sophisticated international tastemaker with a highly-edited point of view. Designed in 2014 by American architect Peter Marino, BOONtheShop’s Seoul flagship is a serene, minimalist shopping mecca.

As an intrinsic evolution of the BOONtheshop universe, the women’s ready-to-wear collection represents a truly international perspective on cool modern luxury.

The BOONtheshop collection is the result of a collective approach to design, combining an innate awareness of an active woman’s urban needs with an unsurpassed sensibility for precious natural materials. Based in Paris, with specialty ateliers in Italy and Greece, the BOONtheshop studio has accumulated a wealth of industry experience from the ateliers of French luxury houses and independent, avant-garde labels, to evolve BOONtheshop’s own identity through a delicate fusion of Eastern principles and Western ‘savoir-faire’.

By reflecting on new expressions of luxury and femininity, BOONtheshop proposes a perennial wardrobe inspired by the cosmopolitan allure of a multitude of women: world travelers, city dwellers, art lovers, escapists and connoisseurs of beauty. Every season, the collection draws aesthetic synergies with the worlds of contemporary art, interior design, and minimalist architecture, imagining the modern woman who traverses these serene, man- made environments and the wild beauty of nature.

With two seasonal collections per year, BOONtheshop’s warm vs. cool palette creates harmonious tonal combinations of refined textures, as leather and suede are combined with mink, cashmere, wool and silk. An absolute emphasis on natural materials sees the collection built upon opulent reversible outerwear, superfine knits, tailored separates, and ethically-sourced furs. Soft layering is essential, as the BOONtheshop wardrobe is designed to fit together seamlessly in a timeless dialogue from season to season.

The silhouette of a belted, robe-shaped coat has evolved into a BOONtheshop signature, with key shapes crafted in unexpected colors and a myriad of decadent fabrications, from shorthair ‘Lacaune’ shearling to Loro Piana Shetland cashmere, and combinations of artisanal ‘let-out’ intarsia mink with nappa leather. Cocooning coats and capes become ergonomic solutions for living, with split panels that unzip as vents, drape as a scarf. Hardware, like ‘jewels’, is minimal and functional, as invisible zips or metal snap studs allow pieces to be transformed at the wearer’s whim. Print and embellishment are kept to a minimum – at times accenting collections as a seasonal gesture – allowing sensual fabrics and exceptional craft to shine all their own.
