Barragan NYFW FW19
Represented by Gia Kuan.
On Wednesday, September 12th, Victor Barragan presented his second runway show for his namesake label BARRAGAN.
The Spring/Summer 2019 debut defied constraints of a traditional runway at Next Century / Century 21 Stores in Downtown Manhattan. Models walked through the store’s Next Century wing and privately seated balcony before descending on Century 21’s iconic gold staircase into the main department store, surprising crowds of shoppers with BARRAGAN’s latest sartorial statement.

SS19 Collection Notes – Terracota
Raw clay sculpted into form. Terracota is the color and material inspiration for Barragan’s Spring / Summer 2019 Collection. For the runway presentation models carry amorphous clay accessories that contrast the structured tailoring and pleated fabrics of the collection. The red earth stands against muted denim colors and bright psychedelic prints to create a fresh look for the spring season.

BARRAGAN started in New York City in 2014 by Victor Barragan as a distinctly Latinx experiment in fashion trends, gender identity, and media consumption. The brand offers an alternative to mainstream fashion by reinterpreting staples in counter-intuitive ways rooted in Latin American culture and traditions. In its clothing, BARRAGAN conveys an alternate reality by cut and pasting classic womens and menswear silhouettes to create mis-matched yet congruent pieces. Both womens and menswear are reworked to fit both sexes creating a uniquely gendered yet gender-fluid collection of clothing. The clothing is designed in New York City and fabricated in Mexico using high quality fabrics and materials. BARRAGAN pieces are currently stocked in countries across the globe including stores in the USA, Mexico, Japan, and Australia. www.barragannnn.com | @barragannnn
