Deborah Lyons Spring Summer 2020

“SOON WE WILL BE STRANGERS”

Represented by I N + A D D I T I O N.

DEBORAH LYONS’ Spring Summer 2020 collection pays tribute to romanticised British adolescence, the yearning for widening horizons, striving for individuality and independence, and above all a desire for the unknown. Staying true to the brand’s ethos, Lyons returns to partnering with some of Britain’s finest mills, continuing her affinity for Scottish tartans and tweeds from the Lake Districts, celebrating these traditional crafted heritage fabrics to create a youthful collection. The election of the mills and the rich local textiles complement the timelessness of the tailoring, whilst the East London Garment District’s production parallels the modernity of the DEBORAH LYONS woman.

Dancing along the lines of old and new, classic and modern, Lyons fifth collection ‘Soon we will be strangers’ plays on proportions of sophisticated silhouettes, adding volume to counterbalance her signature sleek tailoring, whilst introducing a lustre morning rose, white hues and timeless blacks balancing the rainbow of colours for this collection such as vivid fuchsia Astilbes, frosted Sage, Lithodora ‘Crystal Blue’ and glistening metallics. The colour palette reflects the British native wildflowers habitat, from fleshy moss growing between the cracks of the London brickwork to vast fields in the countryside providing homes for British wildlife.

The Daisy dress with it’s peek-a-boo midriff cut-out returns in vivid fuchsia linen this season, whilst the Bianca dress also makes a reappearance in the collection. Customised bold checks have been created taking a centre stage in the flow of the (collection), seen in exaggerated shoulders blazers and tops, midi button front dresses and wide-leg full-length trousers, a new style for the brand.

The Zara coat has been reconstructed into an essential little white dress form, finished with oversized sleeves giving more personality to a white shirt. Nipped in sleeves complement the female form, decorated with delicate buttons leading from hem to elbows, allowing the wearer to create a customised cape style with the garment. Pleated detailing embedded in tailored styles framing the body and accentuating the waist enhance feminine silhouettes, whilst straight cut pussy-bow silk blouse mix the two themes running through this season, perfectly together.

Bringing the colour palette together this season, are the Linton tweed two pieces made-up of high-waisted shorts and a peplum jacket, the colourway represents all of the colours in the sunset and brings the collection together.
