Rejina Pyo Fall 2018: London Fashion Week

Rejina Pyo London Fashion Week FW18

When it comes to moving out of your own home, followed by the desire to discover a new world – a new journey, then there is not only courage, but also a certain style needed: A mix of the old with a twist of something new, exciting with a hint of risk.

Rejina Pyo put this hunger into her new Fall / Winter collection and showcased in the Burlington Arcade, underlined by Can’s song “I want more”. Nostalgic vintage pieces with a modern touch were presented by the Korean but London-based designer, who has not gone unnoticed in the fashion scene for a while. Influencers and bloggers embosomed her previous collection, and I’m convinced that this line, which combines ambition, the thirst for adventure and a trace of homesickness, will follow.

Even on a Sunday morning at 9am, we were stunned by oversized, puffed sleeves on silk blouses, combined with shiny, wide pants. Voluminous bow ties and cute scarves rounded off the vintage look, reminiscent of your grandmother’s wardrobe. The modern twist in cuts and materials reflected a youthful character that encourages to hope and dream.

Pyo’s color palette ranged from feminine reds and pinks to neutral beige and greens to soft blues and browns.

Long, earthy trench coats with subtle detailing and high-neck were followed by checkered wool dresses and custom printed blouses. Textured feathery chiffon and faux leather caused sensation and woke fashion editors and soon-to-be-customers instead of a cup of coffee. Last but not least the accessory choice: Handbags ranged from small bucket bag to functional, but fashionable travel bag – matching with custom designed hairclips by Naomi Bikis.

This season Pyo emphasized again an artsy, but subtle feminine style which dares to take another, longer look in granny’s closet.
