Son Jung Wan Fall 2018: New York Fashion Week

Son Jung Wan NYFW FW18

With an inspiration of “’80s Extreme,” Son Jung Wan’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection had a hype to live up to – and it did not disappoint.

Capitalizing on “Maximalism”, a satire of the Minimalism trend some designers could do without, Son Jung Wan’s runway was filled with plush furs and accentuated silhouettes. Muted yellows, blues, and pinks flooded the runway, as did a common theme of butterflies – from print to 3D stocking décor.

A mix of real and fake fur embellished many of the looks, often in double dipped color, while checkered patterns and sequins graced both male and female pieces. My favorite piece was a long sleeve hi-low glittering silver top, that fell to the floor with a train, and twisted in the front at the mid-section. Though the colors were more subdued than others we’ve seen this season, the craftsmanship was beautiful and the clothing was elegant.
