Just In XX NYFW FW18
Avant-garde, Taiwanese streetwear designer, Justin Yu-Ying Chou, premiered his Autumn/Winter 2018 collection today, Friday February 9th, at Spring Studios.
The AW18 collection, titled, “SuperlinXX”, is the debut collection under Chou’s new label, JUST IN XX.
Inspired by a collaboration with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum, Chou tapped into the museum’s ancient treasures for inspiration, to reinterpret Chinese imperial art as modern street style. “SuperlinXX” (meaning “super links”), attempts to synthesize time, space, culture and age, escaping regular routine and rules, and merges his vision of street fashion with his philosophy of cultural diversity.

Guided by the vision that “old is new” and “local is global”, Chou uses traditional Taiwanese craft skills such as blue dying, hand embroidery, and rush weaving, to remix vintage fabrics with modern textiles. Chou’s designs combine an “Eastern cultural bond with Western structures,” injecting refined, classic, and high-quality undertones into each look, for a unique, avant-garde personality that is both intimate and sensual.
Additional partners for JUST IN XX’s AW18 collection, include footwear from Nike Air Max, honoring an innovative spirit and turning imagination into reality, and Taiwanese eyewear brand, Naughty Sunday, encompassing the spirit of calligraphy to showcase a modern look.
JUST IN XX also partnered with Style.Me for AW18, adapting a new 3D virtual styling technology, offering viewers the chance to virtually see pieces from the runway in real time, from the convenience of their mobile phones.
