Ziggy Chen Ambiepose SS27

Time leaves traces on every surface. Light fades, colours soften, fabrics absorb the memory of wear. In AMBIEPOSE, Ziggy Chen reflects on these subtle transformations, exploring the meeting point between atmosphere and intention, perception and purpose.

Ambience + Purpose

Ambience is understood as a refined perception of the everyday, an intuitive and emotional vision of the world around us—a reality shaped by atmosphere and lived experience.

Purpose represents the subtle threshold between utility and intention, closely tied to an ongoing and delicate relationship between the creator and the wearer.

The colour palette is extensive, divided into light and dark tones unified by low saturation and rich layering, evoking shades naturally aged through prolonged use. Among the dominant colours are the natural hues of linen and a misty blue-grey. The “dirty rain” print, a recurring thread throughout several collections, evolves this season by incorporating a “withered flowers” motif, lending the collection a sense of worn refinement and understated elegance: dirty rain on dyed flowers.

With AMBIEPOSE, the designer continues to explore rough, matte textures imbued with a lived-in character. Linen, silk, and ultra-soft cotton jersey remain the primary fabrics. Openwork construction becomes a key design element, extending to both denim and leather. Natural-toned linen mesh further reinforces and expands this material language, creating continuity across the collection’ s diverse surfaces.

The texture of the garments does not seek smoothness or shine; instead, it recalls pages handled repeatedly over time—faded, matte, marked by natural creases and traces of use—making time itself a tangible material.

The silhouettes are more restrained than in previous seasons, favouring controlled volumes and structural discipline while achieving a balance between ease and order. The garments prioritise comfort and freedom of movement, are designed without rigid contextual limitations, and are intended to become everyday

AMBIEPOSE reflects a slower pace of living, capturing the traces left by time and building its stylistic language through soft cuts and restrained silhouettes that form the collection’ s narrative core.
