Copenhagen became the global capital of forward-thinking fashion this week as the Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2026 brought together more than 1,000 industry leaders from May 5–7. Set inside the striking Copenhagen Concert Hall, the Summit explored a theme that feels tailor-made for the moment: “Building Resilient Futures.”
Opening the event, Federica Marchionni, CEO of Global Fashion Agenda, delivered a message that echoed across the industry: “Resilience is no longer optional, it’s a responsibility.” With climate disruption, economic uncertainty, and rapid technological shifts reshaping the landscape, the Summit challenged attendees to move from ambition to measurable action.

Among the standout moments, three creative forces captured the imagination of the fashion world:
1. Kévin Germanier: Upcycled Couture at Its Most Daring
In a conversation with Hélène Valade of LVMH, designer Kévin Germanier unveiled his Spring–Summer 2026 collection, crafted entirely from unsold LVMH products and materials.
The result was a series of bold, sculptural silhouettes that fused craftsmanship with sustainability a masterclass in how upcycling can transcend its origins and become true luxury. Germanier’s work reaffirmed that the future of couture lies not in excess, but in reinvention.

2. MARTAN: Circular Fashion’s Rising Star
The Summit also celebrated the winner of Visa Young Creators: Recycle the Runway: MARTAN, the Amsterdam-based brand transforming discarded luxury hotel linens into refined, ready-to-wear.
Founded in 2023, MARTAN has quickly become a name to watch. Their process of sorting, dyeing, and precision tailoring proves that circularity can be scalable, desirable, and commercially viable.
As Marchionni noted, “MARTAN exemplifies this approach by combining strong design with a clear and scalable circular model.”

3. The Fashion CFO Agenda 2026: Finance Steps Into the Spotlight
In partnership with BCG, GFA launched the Fashion CFO Agenda 2026, positioning CFOs as key players in embedding sustainability into financial governance. For an industry seeking long-term resilience, this marks a shift in who holds the power to drive meaningful change.
A Summit That Signals a New Era
With 144 speakers, 24 solution exhibitors, and more than 450 curated introductions between innovators and industry leaders, the Global Fashion Summit 2026 made one thing clear: the future of fashion will be built at the intersection of creativity, circularity, and responsibility.
