Glow Routines That Outshine The Runway Spotlights

Social media has led many people to believe that overconsumption is the way forward. From makeup and clothing to a 15-step skincare routine, more is not always better.

In fact, simplifying your skincare routine to just a few high-quality, impactful products can dramatically transform your appearance.

With so many skincare products and brands available on the market, it can be difficult to decide what works best for your skin. In most cases, it may take some trial and error to find products you love. Whether you are finally jumping aboard the Korean skincare craze or simply want to try something new from your go-to premium brand, like Beauever NZ, the key is to understand the impact of popular skincare ingredients and opt for products that suit your specific skin type and needs.

Cleanser

A glowing complexion will also start with a clean, fresh face. Removing all products and impurities from the skin is essential for ensuring your skincare products work effectively every day. The key is to use a gentle, hydrating cleanser for a refreshing cleanse to leave the skin looking and feeling smooth and soft.

If you feel like your skin is not reacting well to cleanser twice a day, you can switch out your morning cleanse with a healthy sweeping of micellar water to create a clean and fresh canvas to apply your skincare and makeup, then double cleansing at night to remove all the dirt and makeup from the day.

Toner

While a gentle cleanser is important to prevent further damage to the sensitive skin on your face, it may not completely remove stubborn makeup or impurities. Applying a toner after cleansing helps remove any lingering makeup and oil while restoring the skin’s natural pH balance.

It also provides a welcome hydration boost, reduces the appearance of pores, and ensures the skin is prepped and ready to better absorb any serums and moisturizers you apply. Alcohol-free toners have also been found to soothe skin and reduce acne.

Serum

Vitamin C is one of the most popular and acclaimed skin-brightening, antioxidant ingredients in the beauty world, and for good reason. This golden liquid is a potent antioxidant that effectively neutralizes free radicals generated by UV rays and environmental pollution, helping prevent skin damage and premature aging. It also helps boost natural collagen production for firmer skin, reduce inflammation, and brighten dark spots by limiting melanin production.

At night, you should switch from your regular serum to a night serum, such as a retinol cream. The product you use in the morning is designed to focus on skin protection, hydration, and brightening, using antioxidants to combat environmental damage. In comparison, night serums focus on rejuvenation and repair, addressing issues while supporting the skin’s natural renewal.

Liquid Bronzing Drops

This is technically not a compulsory step, but to achieve a really beautiful, natural glow, you need to add some warmth and dimension to your skin. The best way to achieve this without having to apply makeup every single day is to add bronzing drops to your skincare routine, building a subtle, natural glow.

They can be added on their own for a more targeted effect on the cheeks, nose, and forehead, or mixed into your favorite skin moisturizer for an overall soft, sun-kissed effect. For the ultimate shortcut, use a blending brush to apply a small amount of tanning lotion to your face in the areas you would typically use bronzer.

Hydrating Face Moisturizer

While it may feel like you have already applied plenty of hydration to your skin, you should still include a good-quality moisturizer in your routine. Not only does it offer another layer of hydration, but it also helps seal in all the products you have already used.

A common approach is to select a heavier, thicker moisturizer to use at night, and lightweight, fast-absorbing products to apply under makeup in the morning. However, everyone has their favorite option that they turn to regularly, so stick to what you know and love. Regardless of your personal preference, you need to pick a product that suits your skin type and contains powerhouse ingredients like glycerin, squalene, and niacinamide.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is arguably the most important part of any skincare routine. Regardless of the weather outside or your plans for the day, you should be applying sunscreen as part of your morning skincare routine. You can use endless products to improve your complexion, but should you fail to properly protect your face from harmful UV rays, you will never be able to reverse unwanted sun damage.

If you plan to apply makeup over your sunscreen, a lightweight, fast-absorbing product will work best with your other beauty products. While some moisturizers have SPF included, a pure sunscreen offers the best protection. Opt for a product with at least SPF 30; SPF 50 works best for extended wear.

Indulgent Extras

While you may be relishing in a simplified skincare routine, this doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in the occasional luxury skincare treatment. Many experts regularly talk about the benefits of red light therapy. While this doesn’t mean you need to rush out and buy your own red light mask, booking a treatment session once a week or every two weeks will still let you enjoy the benefits of this therapy.

It is also worth tailoring your skincare routine when you feel like your skin needs a little more TLC, incorporating clarifying masks or depuffing solutions that can instantly improve your skin.
