UFW Appeals To All Partner Communities
Ukrainian Fashion Week is the oldest Fashion Week in Central Europe, founded in 1997. In the year of our 25th anniversary, instead of celebrating, we are sitting in the bomb shelters, instead of helping young designers, we’re helping our soldiers.
On February 24, 2022, more than 170 000 Russian troops launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by land, air and sea, the largest attack by one state on another in Europe since World War II. Russian troops shell Ukrainian cities, killing civilians.
The Ukrainian fashion industry is not isolated. Our designers turn to their star clients for support. Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Gigi Hadid, Jennifer Lopez and many other stars have spoken out against war in Ukraine.
Today Ukraine is in the center of the world’s attention. Russia has launched a full-scale invasion into our free and democratic state. It is killing our people as you read this. It is tearing families apart as you read this. It is changing the course of our and your history as you read this. If Ukraine falls, your country and your people will be next.
Ukrainian Fashion Week appeals to all partner communities, national and international. We ask you to unite for the sake of our state and our mutual peace! Be constructive, informed and as helpful as possible. Ukraine’s future depends not only on the presidents and prime ministers of your countries, but also on each and every one of you.
Share news about Ukraine on your social networks, go to the streets of your cities to protests against the war, join the Red Cross.
You are familiar with and love Ukrainian brands. Keep buying them. Look for things by Ukrainian designers on international online platforms and in large department stores, on the official websites of Ukrainian brands. This is not just financial support for the Ukrainian creative industry. This is a sign that you are with us. And against unreasonable war in Ukraine.
We are Ukraine and we are defending democracy on behalf of the entire world.
