Brian shared on Victoria’s Secret Live in 2016 that his first hand-on shoe design was with Versace, when Gianni Versace personally asked him to design for his couture show in 1996. He quoted, “Shoes are like jewelry for your feet.”

Executive Producer Monica Mitro agreed, adding, “We love Brian because he is game for everything. It’s about, what’s the fantasy. What can I create? We want his ideas.”

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show remains the most anticipated and the most watched fashion event in history with an annual 800 million viewers. The VSFS 2018 airs December 2nd on ABC at 10 pm.

Q:We love this phenomenal “Brian Atwood and Victoria’s Secret team up” since 2014. What’s the secret of its success?

I think staying true to one’s self is the most important. Obviously, perseverance and passion are what fuels you, never compromise your integrity.

Q:How long does the VSFS creative shoe process take? What’s involved in the creation process?

It takes a solid four months from start to finish, usually five. Once we decide on a design, then we make a first prototype type, then make some samples of the embroidery, etc. Select material and continue to perfect it until it gets final approval.

Q:VSFS 2018 have seven themes including Pink: Glam Royale, Golden Angel, Flights of Fantasy, Floral Fantasy, Downtown Angel, Celestial Angel, and Pink. From the creativity aspect, what’s different this year from the past years?

Having different themes is great because it allows you to design into very different looks and is always exciting. I love designing shoes for VS because they always want very sexy shoes, and this has got to be The best fashion show for shoes!

Q:Your success is truly inspirational, any advice to young designers?

Never give up! If this is truly your passion, stick with it. Get your feed wet, however you can: intern, etc. Start being involved in the field that interests you the most.

Q:How do you find the balance in life?

Meditation and finding the calm side of life, but my partner Dr. Jake Deutsch helps me find balance.
