Q: What inspired you to start a podcast?

I thought about starting a podcast for a long time because I was getting so many responses from my followers. They wanted to learn more about me and my opinion on so many topics. My personality is very fun and I felt like people enjoyed it, so I thought it would be good for a podcast anyway. I would even get constant DMs saying I should start a podcast because people would always compliment my voice, they wanted more. SO I decided to launch my podcast a year ago! It’s been the absolute best experience, I don’t regret a minute of it!

But you have to remember that starting a podcast is time consuming. If you want to start your own, just remember to be on top of your game, because your listeners are expecting each week to be something more fun and different from the last. Keeping that in mind really helps you grow your audience.

And it’s not just about the content in your episodes, either. You have to focus on building forums, social media pages, getting followers for those channels, etc. because someone could listen to your podcast once and that’s all well and good, but they’re a lot more likely to come back if they know you’re well-established in other areas outside the podcasting realm.
Instagram, for example, is a really useful tool because not only can you promote your podcast, you can interact with your fans, and that’s something I love doing.

Q: Why is your podcast the best podcast for millennials?

OMG! I mean, it is! It’s not just my opinion either, my listeners are always sliding into my DMs to tell me that.
I think what it is that I have so many different guests, and no topic is ever off limits when they come on. We talk about dating as a millennial and a lot of issues, beauty, women’s health, wellness, spirituality, entrepreneurship, marketing, fashion, latest reality TV news, etc. There’s honestly something for everyone.

Q: Why is the NotBasicBlonde Podcast so beneficial?

I try to put as much value as I can into every episode I put out there for my audience. My main goal is to inspire women and provide them with life advice that they don’t always feel comfortable asking their friends for. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from women about how this podcast has changed their life and I’m so grateful for that.

Q: How do you select your guests?

It really depends on the situation. I get a lot of inquiries about guests, and a lot of them also come from my online community. There are some situations where I’m picking them based off of a unique story behind them or something unique about their personality. Usually, my guests are celebrities, entrepreneurs, bloggers, magazine editors, fitness and wellness personalities, nutritionists, therapists, fashion legends, radio hosts, TV, Reality TV and news personalities, doctors, etc.

Such as Dean Graziosi, Gabriele Bernstein, Simonetta Lein, Kameron Westcott, Allison McNamara, Skinfix, Selling Sunset stars, Kristen Taekman, Maz Jobrani, Deborah Lippmann, Jasmin Star, Dani Rose, and so many more celebrities.

Q: What’s your best advice for women to succeed in the podcasting and Influencer world?

Don’t compete, collaborate! That’s what I’ve learned and what works best for me. By collaborating, we can achieve a lot. Having each other’s back and helping each other grow is important. And patience is key because success doesn’t come overnight. You have to put in time and effort to make things happen.
