Open to the Public
On Thursday, July 8th, at Paradise Plaza in Miami Design District, Fika Creative Group will host its first annual sustainable fashion show, Segunda Mano. The event will feature second-hand and ethically sourced clothing, to benefit the Lotus House Women’s Shelter.
Segunda Mano will showcase curated looks with items donated by the Lotus House Thrift Chic Boutique, a partner of Lotus House and vehicle for building grassroots support and raising public awareness to help end homelessness. This event is supported by the Miami Design District and PARAISO Miami Beach.
“We want to provoke conversations within the community around sustainable fashion and inspire others to shop consciously. We’ve worked with Lotus House in the past for our Style Swap Events, and agreed this event would be a step towards encouraging a more sustainable lifestyle,” commented Fika Founders, Christine Archilla and Jessica Escobar.
Segunda Mano will showcase second-hand and ethically sourced clothing styled by Mexican-American multi-media artist Danié Gómez-Ortigoza, founder of Journey of a Braid. The event will feature the following experiences:
● A Lotus House pop-up shop with specially selected items for sale onsite – All profits from this pop-up will go directly to the Lotus House organization.
● A pop-up sustainable market with booths featuring various ethical brands – A percentage of the sales will go back to the Lotus House organization.
● A fireside chat between the show curator, a Lotus House representative, and other special guests covering sustainability, fashion and community involvement.
● Community partners will also be donating items for a special silent auction that will take place throughout the event – All funds collected will be donated to the Lotus House organization.
