    The message for Season 8 is the “The Legacy Continues…”

    On February 15th 2020 at the Museum of the City of New York, Harlem Fashion Week will honor Cultural Icons at the “Black Girl Magic” Charity Gala while creating an opportunity for the next generation of designers by providing a platform for the students from the High School of Fashion Industries to showcase a collection for NYFW.

    Harlem Fashion Week is pleased to partner with the High School of Fashion Industries. The mission of the High School of Fashion Industries is to provide challenging, creative, and effective occupational, technical and academic training for New York City students. Yvonne Jewnell, Co-owner of Harlem Fashion Week, will pay homage to her alma mater: High School of Fashion Industries, by providing amazing opportunities for the students of HSFI. HFW has added a special segment of their semi-annual New York Fashion Week event to showcase original student designs, at the runway show and provide scholarships for the senior class of 2020. HSFI student & alumni segment will be under the direction of Brenda Rojas and Rosa Chavez: Sui Generis Honors Class & The Curvy Lab Class. HFW is also excited that Yvonne Jewnell, will be the featured designer for Season 8 of HFW. Yvonne is showing a red, electric Afro urban chic collection that will sound the alarm that Spring is here!

    The proceeds from the Season 8 Honoree-Charity Gala will benefit scholarships for the students at the High School of Fashion Industries. Harlem Fashion Week: Honoree-Charity Gala will celebrate the majesty of “Black Girl Magic”. The gala will honor 11 Transformational Women: Inez Dickens, Honorable NYS Assemblywoman, Dee Poku, Founder CEO of WIE, Selena Hill, Digital Journalist/ On- Air Talent, Evetta Petty, Designer/Owner of Harlem’s Heaven Hats, Sade Lythcott, CEO The National Black Theatre, Diane Bailey, CEO/ Founder of EMERGE, Angie Hancock, Founder Experience Harlem, Lydia T. Blanco, Digital Journalist/On Air Talent, Mahisha Dellinger, Founder of Curls, Kimberly Wilson Marshall, Founder CEO Wilson Marshall PR, and Rev. LaKeesha Walrond Ph.D., President New York Theological Seminary.

    Harlem Fashion Week has created a platform for rising stars in the Fashion Design Industry. HFW seeks to create a cultural platform through the art of fashion. The founders of Harlem Fashion Week are the international award-winning powerhouse mother-daughter duo Tandra Birkett and Yvonne Jewnell, owner of the fashion design company Yvonne Jewnell New York LLC. Among the awards Tandra & Yvonne have received are The National Council of Negro Women, The Fashion 500, The Council of the City of New York, New York State Assembly, New York State Senate and “Women in the Black”. Harlem Fashion Week has been fortunate to receive a wide diversity of press from over 100 major media publications: Vogue Italia, Ozy.com, Racked.com, The New Yorker Magazine, Paper Magazine, The Root.com, Refinery 29, Essence, Fashion Week Online, Getty Images including the book Race Capital?: Harlem as Setting and Symbol, among many other publications. In addition to their awards and features; Yvonne graduated from Parsons: School of Design and Tandra received her degree from Columbia University, these ladies have combined their talents, skills and education to create one of the most innovative, emerging fashion show production companies.
